Hey! I am not sure if this has been done already, but I am looking to put pictures of store fronts all in one thread. I am decorating mine now and would love some inspiration, ideas, etc. (I also need to have some pics to show hubby to help with getting him to spend some $$ , LOL)

So - if you would be willing to share your pics, post em here! Thanks!!
OH - and be sure to give a little description of your place and if you sell ready made or only made to order or both

I'll post my space first, but keep in mind this is a work in progress.

here's mine. I have about 400 sq ft up front. There are 25 linear feet of windows across the front. My office is up here because that's where the phone lines are. I am open by appointment only and bake to orde right now. I hope to soon have some items on hand to sell to walk ins. TFL icon_smile.gif

Nice...what does your kitchen look like? What is the total size of your space? What part of Georgia is your shop located in? Sorry, if I asked sooo many questions. Man, I can't wait to have a place that I can call home.

We're under construction, so no good pics to post yet. We are undergoing the headaches of jumping through all the hoops from the health department. We have 520 sq feet. The shop is 11 feet wide and 50 feet long. The "reception" area will be about 12 feet by 11 with the handicap access restroom area (about 6x11) to the left. The kitchen area will be to the right. It will be about 30 x 11, a little over 300 sq feet. We have to have our customer entrance on the side as opposed to the front because it's a old building with steps and there was no way to make the front wheel chair accessible. It's not such a bad deal though as the back of our building faces the main downtown free parking lot, so it's easy access from that direction and not that inconvenient for people who park in front on the street. My husband and I bought this old building and have converted most of it into a home for us. He got a chunk of the building for his wood shop and I got this chunk for my cake shop.I hope to begin taking orders by mid october. My long term goal is to be able to quit my other job 2 years from this past May.

mine's more of a bakery open to a space with tables. I just bought it a couple of weeks ago so I haven't taken pics yet. It was already built out and perfect for what I'm doing, which is both cakes and pastries. I'll post some pics when I get them!

I'm loving hearing and seeing everyone elses! (the kids spot is a great idea!)

Sharon - thaks for posting your pics. Your place looks great! I can't wait to get mine finished.

I am having such a hard time with deciding how I want my place to look. I do want to paint something on the walls. I just can't make up my mind. And I want/need a display counter for items if I am going to sell them to walk ins, etc. Plus I want to put in new flooring (in place of the nasty industrial carpet that is there already!!) but hubby says the budget can't handle it. I found some nice laminate wood look flooring at Sams that we could install ourselves, but it would still be around $500 -$600.

Sugarlove - I'm in middle georgia. Are you in GA too? I have a total of 1500 square feet so the kitchen is around 1100. It's a big space, with lots of room for me to grow. I don't have pics of it yet. But it is a rectangle with a bathroom in the back right corner. Along the front wall (that opens into the front of the shop) I have my commercial fridge, a work table and 2 sets of shelves. I keep all of my main ingredients, utinsels, pans, etc here. My mixers are on the table. Down the next wall I have my oven, 3 compartment sink, grease traps and hand washing sink. Then there is a utility area with a utility sink and hot water heater. I put selves in there to hold all te cleaning equipment, mops, etc. Then comes the bathroom. The back wall has the back door and all the electrical equipment. So I store some junk back there. Along the last wall there are metal shelves for boxes, bases, cookie cutters and all of that, a peg board for chocolate molds, etc, the freezer, and then more tables for all my gumpaste equipment, cookbooks and so forth. I also use a production wall - like Duff on AOC. I hung a bunch of clipboards up and have all my orders on them. In the center - sort of - I have two long stainless steel work tables with storage underneath. I keep all sorts of stuff there, like tips, fondant, candy melts, more ingredients, etc.

I have three kids (19 months, 6 and 9). They are at the shop with me a lot. So I have the toys there for them and also to help entertain other kids while I meet with moms. I think most moms appreciate the thought. I know what it's like to try to talk business when kids are bored!LOL Impossible! So it was a little for me and a little for them. Plus - it helps distract kids from touching the fake cakes and pulling down all my pictures icon_wink.gif

Any one have any ideas for my front space? I want it to be fun and a little funky. Playful maybe? My logo is a fun type of cake in lime green and turquoise.

Yep, I'm in Georgia too. I thought I was in the middle (located in Atlanta) I guess not. I think the office type carpet takes away from the nice furniture...I would ditch it and replace it with some nice birch hardwood floors it would go great with the dark furniture and lime green color. IKEA has some for decent price. I also think the space could use more dummies especially near the front windows.

These look great!

I don't know if you have an Ollies near you but they sell flooring very inexpensive and very nice(It's usually leftover stock from Home Depot and Lowes).

Wow, all these Georgians. It looks like I need to get out more. I can't find a cake shop, or supply store, near me. The closest supply store I've found is in Tucker.

You ladies know of one closer to my location?

Good luck on your store! I thin it's going to look fabulous when your'e finished. I might just have to stop by and see it for myself. icon_biggrin.gif

here's some pics of my bakery. We also serve lunch. We recently redid the outside with the purple paint and sign. We have been way busier with new people because it catches their eye. I can't get my pic to attach so I will try and load it in my photos.

If they won't attach, they're probably too large. Try resizing them. If you don't have a program to do it, try here...

hey ya'll! wow at all the georgians! I am in macon. And I love aj's in warner robbins! I go there all the time. Plus I always stop by hobby lobby since we don't have one here icon_cry.gif !

I also love ikea - I spend all day there everytime I go. Which is not as often as I would like. lol

I do hope we can replace the nasty carpet soon. i am of the mindset that it takes away from the look of the place (even if it's not finished yet) but hubby and my mother (aka my accountant) are totally against it for right now. They day that it isn't costing me business, so I shouldn't spend the money. so back and forth we go.

sugarlove - where abouts in hotlanta are you? My family comes from Alpharetta - way before it exploded.

Thansk everyone for the responses - and I look forward to more pics!! icon_smile.gif

I too wish I had pics to post but right now my shop still looks like a garage...lol By next week the doors are getting ripped out and the french doors put in, my little hip roof will be attached and I should have the begining stages of walls inside. So darn exciting. I could post a pic of the mud pit I will very soon be calling a parking lot but that's not fun. I could also post a pic of the sub panel and wiring that is currently dangling about but thats no fun either...in a bout a month I will have much more fun stuff to show thumbs_up.gif

My Hubby once had a 9 month work assingment in Hotlanta and we lived in Buckhead what a wonderful city! We had so much fun.

Another Georgian over here! I'm in Fayetteville (Fayette County), so I'm about a 30-40 minute drive from Atlanta. I go to the cake supply store in Tucker, too...too bad it takes so long to get there or I would be there all the time! I would love to check out AJ's...where exactly is it?

woo hoo even more georgians - and a rhode islander too icon_smile.gif

AJ's is on Watson Blvd in Warner Robins. They are a small shop that is slap packed with stuff. It's owned and run by AJ (big shock, I know) and is sort of a mom and pop type place. They are super sweet and helpful. Fluttercakes - I'll pm you the address and phone #.

My DH graduated from GA tech and I graduated from UGA. I love visiting hotlanta! Buckhead is a lot of fun. I just took the kids to the new Coke World downtown and we had a blast! I've been to the Aquarium several times, too.

Sugarlove - that new Atlantic Station area is so cool. I love driving around there when I go to Ikea. Are you near there?
Have you been to Nicolas Lodge's store? Or how about CK south? too many ?'s ??????

spongemomsweatpants (which btw cracks me up everytime I read it!) post pics of the mud pit and hanging wires!!! icon_lol.gif I love construction!

Ok - what do ya'll think of me painting funky faux frames on the walls in my store colors and having them so that I can change out the pictures as often as I want? If I don't do too many, maybe it won't come off as too busy.
