melvira, the egg pan is from wilton, you might be able to find it on ebay for cheap since it's not easter time.
Thanks Mrs. Missey for sharing the directions with us. How long did it take you to complete the cake, from start to finish?
awesome! I was inspired and made one yesterday for a birthday "dinner". They LOVED it! I'll post pics as soon as i upload. I didnt have an egg pan but i made due with what i had.... ball ban, and 6" round... a few cupcakes and VOILA! Came out great! Thanks for the inspiration! we have a bake sale the week before thanksgiving so i am planning on making a couple of these! i'll also bring one to Thanksgiving.
I was told that maybe i should add an INSULIN gravy!
MrsMissey, says to use the large egg pan.
I have a egg pan, but how do I know if it is the large one, what size is the large one ?
I also have the football pan, would it be better than the egg pan, or not ?

..sure!! The first one pretty much took me all day because I was making it up as I went along! Now I have it down to a few hours.
Wow! That's a really great cake and it's really nice of you to share the directions with the rest of us. My husband thinks it is sooo cool and wants me to make him one....NOW. I told him to wait until Thanksgiving.

I used the 3D egg pan (Wilton #2105-P-4793) because that is what I had. I am sure the football pan would work just as well!

Thanks! It's really a lot of fun to make!
Mrs. Missey,
What kind of BC do you use on your cakes? do you mind sharing the recipe?
I really, really want to try making this cake. But i'm afraid the BC i use will not crust or look so beautiful as your does for your cakes. Do you also apply a super generous about of icing to your cakes before smoothing?
thanks!
Kat
How do you attach the wings and legs to the cake? Do you use dowels?
Thanks in advance,
Cecilia
Yes, the holiday season has officially begun, for once again, we are talking turkey cakes!
Thanks, MrsMissy, for sending this our way again. Wish we had some pictures to go with the instructions (hint, hint!). Was that a lead balloon I just heard?

Thanks so much!
For the turkey, I just used the Wilton Buttercream recipe, all Crisco. As I mentioned before, I wasn't even sure this bird was goiing to turn out, so I just used basic stuff! I find it easier to always put on more icing then I need and then remove what I don't need...less chance of getting crumbs in my icing!

...as mentioned in the instructions, no dowels were used to attach the wings/legs, just icing! I did use the plastic hollow dowels, covered in icing, to get the look of the drumsticks and so that I would have a place to put the paper frills on the ends. HTH!!
I am making this cake as we speak I will post it 2morrow. I hope mines come out 1/4 this nice....
to the CCers.. the only people who will NOT think i'm gory:
I have three entire turkey bodies in parts freezing in the freezer! (i found a mini egg pan for the drumsticks/wings). I tried the cupcakes for my first... and it came out pretty good BUT, i think the egg shapes of the mini egg pan will be much better.
are you guys using the mini egg pan with 8 1/2 eggs or 4 1/2 eggs? I'm thinking the 4 is bigger eggs but i'm not sure which one will be more proportioned with the body of the turkey. Thanks
I noticed there were two sizes as well... I was thinking the larger of the two was what MrsMissey suggested, but I'd sure like to hear it from the horses mouth (so to speak) before you buy something. I'd hate to be the reason you had problems!!

...as listed in the instructions, I used the 8 Mini Half Egg pan. It is the Wilton #2105-2118!
Oops, I was wrong in what I said, but the one I ordered was that model #. I think we all need to re-read the instructions before we ask more questions, I think she is having to repeat herself a lot. Sorry Mrs!!
I ordered the wrong mini egg pan.
I ended up using custard dishes to cook it in. It appears as if they will be the perfect size.

Anything from a cupcake to a large cake scrap will work! It's really very flexible, my instructions are just meant to be a guideline!
im getting nerves in doing this cake...did u crave the shape or is that all buttercream..sorry for the lame question
Hiya guys,
I have an idea for the body of the turkey. How about using a regular round cake and cutting it in half, glue the two halves together with icing and just go from there. I made a miniature version from a 7" round cake and some cupcakes. Worked out really well. made little tomatoes and carrots too with some icing and piped on the "lettuce" with the large leaf tip.
ha ha ha i have never tried anything like this ..BUT...my brothers birthday is on Thanksgiving this year...sooooo looks like imma be trying to make a turkey cake...first i gotta find them egg pans around here somewhere...wish me luck yall!!
