I came across a recipe for chocolate pumpkin cake that I'm very eager to try now that it's fall. The recipe calls for pureed pumpkin. Where do I get this? Do I have to go buy a pumpkin and cut some of the meat out and put it in the blender? Can I just use a canned pumpkin filling? HELP!
i'm pretty sure it's just canned pumpkin- just check to make sure its not pumkin pie filling though 'cuz that has pie spices in it.
Pureed pumpkin comes in a can.. LIBBYS, BUT make sure you DO NOT buy the Pumpkin Pie mix, because from the outside they look the same, but one will say Pie Mix..
You use canned (solid packed) pumpkin, NOT pumpkin pie filling. Of course if you really wanted to go thru the bother, you could bake a pumpkin, pull out the insides, and puree it yourself................canned is easier.

Thanks ladies! I guess I never noticed that you could just get canned pumpkin. I thought it was all pumpkin pie mix. Good to know! I can't wait until this weekend and I can try it out!
