Dear, wonderful, clever, adorable, brilliant (have I missed anyone?) CC'ers.
I have been desperately trying to get a copy of Colette Peters' "Colette's Christmas" for my dear friend's 50th birthday (at the end of September). She is a mad (read insane) Colette Peters fan and this is the only book she does not have.
Does ANYONE out there have a copy they would be willing to part with? I have tried Ebay (none currently on sale) icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif and Amazon (many sellers won't ship to Australia, plus I've found out the hard way that "Used - good condition usually means several pages missing!" icon_confused.gificon_confused.gif )
Anyway, if you have one that you'd be willing to part with, please, PLEASE, pm me - and you can have my first-born as part of the deal!! icon_wink.gif

I've had great success buying used books from Barnes & Noble:

Thank you, Jan!
Sadly, the affordable ones are ex-library - no problem, normally, but as it's for a gift, it may appear a little odd. What do you think?

I have found it tonight on Albris Books, Jessica's Biscuit and eBAY. I can't beleive the prices they are asking for this book. It is a soft cover and I didn't really think it was one of her best books, $70 to $100 is ridiculous.

Have you tried asking a bookstore such as Borders or Angus & Robinson to order it in. As they have Borders in the states too, you might have some luck with them and that way it's new. However if the price is ridiculous, and your friend know how difficult it is then I don't think a used, ex-library or 2nd hand book is wrong to give, remember it's the thought that counts I'm sure she'd be happy that you went out of your way as opposed to whether the book is brand new.

Thank you, everyone, for your help in this! I am SO glad I found CC!

Nicole, I too am in Australia!! Unfortunately, the book is out of print, so can't be ordered in by the bookstores. I even contacted Colette Peters directly - she was actually a tiny bit rude about it icon_redface.gificon_redface.gif

I will continue to follow up the second-hand listings - hopefully find one that won't bankrupt me! (It's the freight that is the real killer - getting anything to Australia is quite scary icon_eek.gificon_eek.gif )

Anyway, thank you all for your suggestions - back to Google thumbs_up.gif

You may try www.addall.com for the book.

Oh, dear!! Another problem - most sites that have a copy in stock will not ship to Australia!
Definitely time for a rethink on the birthday gift - perhaps a nice pair of woolly socks! icon_rolleyes.gif

There are several copies for sale, in various conditions, on half.com, but you'd have to contact the individual seller to see if they'd ship to Australia.

Hey OzCookie,

Yep there are a few Aussies around here! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif. Which is quite handy when you are trying to source something out here, nevertheless, it's a very friendly helpful site!

If the book is out of print I'm quite sure your friend wouldn't mind it being second hand, but freight can be a killer! One day I'm going to take a trip to the states with 3 empty suitcases and just buy loads of cake decorating stuff! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif.

I don't know where you get your cake stuff from, but it might be worth contacting
http://www.bakerysugarcraft.com.au/default.asp
http://www.cakedeco.com.au/
http://www.completecakedec.com.au/index.html

they all sell books as well and might have an old hidden copy or be able to give you advice on where to find it if it's out of print, no guarantees, but worth checking all avenues!

Maybe if someone on here has it they might be willing to send you a photocopy of the book, not the perfect solution but just another idea.

Good luck finding it, let us know how you go!

Thanks again, Nicole!
I know the first two, but the SA one was new to me!
Hey! Just noticed - not only are we neighbours, but we almost share a birthday! Must get together for some bubbly and cake! thumbs_up.gif
