I am gearing up for a very busy October and just took yet ANOTHER order for baby shower cake! What is it with baby showers this month?

I have 4 baby shower cakes this week, three next week, four more the week after. And turned down two others because I am too busy. AND these are HUGE showers! One is for 150 people!!

I am already sick of making little fondant babies, blankets and rattles. Although I did find the pattern for the chocolate baby cradle and it turned out great! Will post it when I get a chance...

This is my first year doing my cake business...the summer was nuts with outdoor parties for kids, and weddings weddings weddings. This is my first fall doing cakes and i thought it was going to be quiet! Its crazier then ever. Is October National Baby Shower month or something?

Also, do you guys get a lot of orders over the holidays for cakes?

Are you near any military bases, or reserve groups? That would be one answer. Another would be the holiday's just ending 9 months ago. Go figure!

I believe more babies are born in October than any other month. (I have a daughter born in October and 4 of her friends were born in the same week!)

Think back 9 months was Christmas, New Years, etc... icon_wink.gif

I'm not working on any baby shower cakes (I had 2 last month), but of course I have a TON of birthday cakes to do with all of these October kids.

Good luck with the cakes!

I work as a teacher and the busiest month for birthdays is generally September/October -I blame Christmas booze.

I always think things will slow down in October, and it always surprises me how busy I am.

This is funny, there was a news feature on a local station a week or so ago comparing birth numbers at several of the hospitals in the DFW area, and they are way, way up!

They didn't come up with any explanation, just speculation.LOL Janice

I just finished delivering my 5th birthday cake this weekend. I have 4 next week. It is crazy for me too. Especially when you throw in football games and softball games with the children. We have something every day next week. I am ready for a week with no cakes! I can't believe I just said that. I am getting ready for our church bazaar also. Doing baking for that!

It's those cold nights of December and January. Shortened daylight hours!

My mom always said you can tell how cold December and January was by how many babies are born in October. We have about 8 birthdays in our family. We celebrate with one big party.

My daughter's 13th birthday is October 26th. Cold winters in January here in Ohio. My husband always jokes that he was a "Valentine Present". His birthday is November 20th, and nine months before that was Valentines Day. icon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gif

As a former Labor and Delivery Nurse; I can tell you the months of August, September and October are the busiest. I guess we don't have a better way to stay warm in the winter months. I should know, I have a August baby and a September baby and I live in NY. Just a fact! icon_wink.gif
