Does anybody know what you can use to replace baking soda with in a chocolate cake recipe? or what will happen if you leave it out?

If you leave the baking soda out the cake won't rise.

OK, well the cake is done! I used self rising flour instead of all purpose and left out the baking soda and the salt and it turned out great!
