Would this be ok instead of those bags full of candy and cheap toys? I hate it when my kids get those! I wind up throwing it all away! I want to do something different.
They do it at weddings. Kids don't care if it's candy or cookies ... as long as it's free, sweet and edible!

Here here!
I think they'd be a lovely going-home gift.

i did cookies for a suprise at my cosins party, he was 6 and the cookies went faster then the bags, my nephew got a bag and i agree we end up throwing away all of the candy. i think cookies work the best
I just had my daughter's 1st birthday party, and we gave out cookies. They're in my photos if you want to see. I also did some for my friends daughter for her 5th. They were good, and like you said, no candy laying around the house forever. Or maybe it's not, and that's the problem!
I think cookie favors are an excellent idea! Besides less sugar, they also don't have all that artificial stuff like what's in candy!

Kids LOVE decorated cookies so they'd be thrilled with them.
Even my kids who get them all the time want me to make them as favors for their birthdays.
Cookies are a great idea. For my dd 7th bday, I bought every girl and clay pot, put the green floral thingy in it, had baked cookies in the shape of flowers, had them decorate cookies and put them in their pots to take home. I also bought the decorative foam stickers to decorate the pots with. They all enjoyed doing that rather than games.
I did cookie favors for 2 of my kids birthdays. I did Pooh cookies (in my pictures) and I did Scooby and dog bone cookies (not in my pictures). Everyone liked those better. Plus even the grown-ups wanted to take some home. I like doing the cookies better then giving those junk bags.
I have stopped doing goody bags. & who doesn't love a custom cookie. Only thing is you have to make them for the adults to because the will all want one.

thats all I do cookies for. And they've been all the rave at the parties for my customers. Such a better deal than stuff they are just going to throw away. If you think about it, you spend about $3 for each goodie bag. Might as well give them something that doesn't go to waste!
I'm doing the same for my DD's 2nd birthday. I hate the "trinkets" and she doesn't eat candy yet so decorated cookies will be the party favor. I think it's a great idea!
kaka what a great idea for a party. Do you mind if i steal the idea and use it at my next party???
Thanks
I did this for my son's bday at daycare. I also included a small book (early readers) as I too dislike the cheap plastic toys!
I have done this a lot...I wrap cookies in a treat bag...usually clear, use a plain placecard to staple closed then either use a ribbon or write on card to decorate..
Hello the party favor is a great idea since you can do the cookie to match the party theme, I get order this a lot, I also make cookie b-day bouquets for the party tables, the only problem is that they dont last long so its better to give the cookie at the end of the party kids love it. If you dont think is enough just make a bag of just candy and the cookie and that is it.
This is a great thread! I emailed my daughter the idea for the granddaughter's birthday next year and she loved it! She hated making those candy bags for the birthday this year and can't wait to do cookies instead!
