I just finished my first cake of the day and everything just seems so soft. The buttercream, the fondant, even the cake. I'm scared this may be a showing of things to come and I have three more to finish. I've got my central AC set on 72 and I've got my backup window unit on 69. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

You can stick in the ref if you want. If not, I'm out of ideas. HTH.

Did you use the Crisco with zero trans fat in anything? If so that could cause the buttercream to be real soft.

Try putting everything in the refrigerator. My hands are so hot that I have two of everything going--one I'm working with and one in the fridge so I can keep swapping them out. I literally melt the icing in the piping bag with my hands. Hope this helps ya.

Thank you everyone. I'm really scared to put anything in the refrigerator because of condensation (and this one cake in particular has A LOT of black on it). Luckily not too much piping, mainly fondant work. And beetle, I have been using the GV shortening since Crisco switched on me. I'm thinking that I'm just gonna have to deal with it and pray for the best. Thanks again, now I'm ready for some cooler weather, Please!
