So, I posted this cake earlier this week. I entered it in to our county fair. I learned tonight I got second place! (Okay so, only two people entered the category, but I'll take it! LOL) I'm thrilled with it - it's one of the only cakes I've done that it turned out 99% like what I had in my head. Of course, I got the inspiration from Debbie Brown's book, but I made my own colors, animals, etc. My Grandma sent me the sweetest e-mail, raving on how cute it was, how talented I am, etc - and she doesn't usually do that. I had a woman ask to take a picture of me with my cake the other night - that was flattering!
You did such a wonderful job! I can't beleive you didn't get first! Wonderful for you!!
THat cake is adorable!! you did a great job! I can't imagine what the other cake had to look like! Congratulations!
Thanks everyone for the votes of confidence! The cake wasn't that big - the cake board itself was only 8"x12", so you can go from there on the size. It was only about one 7 inch cake, cut up.
The cake that won was a county fair extravaganza. It was enormous, and was a total fair scene - including a ferris wheel, pens with animals, people and little tables with cakes with blue ribbons. Very cute! I talked to the girl that brought it, and she said that she was just excited that it made it there in one piece! LOL Don't we all think that? ha!
My husband said next year I need to do a rodeo theme - with the horse, the shoots, seats, etc. Of course, he's got all these grandiose ideas, I'm not sure my skills are as grandiose! LOL
I'm sure you'll be able to pull off something similar, if not exact to what your hubby has in mind! You'll think of something!
Congrats! My daughter (10 years old) is entering a bundt cake in our fair this coming week.
It's so much fun!
