Hi, I'm new to the site, and my business doesn't focus on all these incredible cakes you ladies (and men) make, but I thought perhaps you could help me anyway. Although, this is an addicting site and I am having a lot of fun trying to make this kind of cake!!! icon_smile.gif

My business started out 2 years ago as a basket business with my homemade biscotti as my signature item, but within 3 months everyone just wanted to buy biscotti, not gift baskets. So business transition number one, with my business name as Biscotti Bliss. Okay, so since then our family has become kosher and living in a community with a relatively small orthodox population, I have been asked to sell my desserts. I mostly make biscotti, but also make a smattering of other desserts. The key is all of my desserts are parve (dairy free). I make parve cheesecakes, creampuffs, pastries, etc. So I thought the name Parve Pleasures was descriptive and sounded good. Any opinions? Also, I thought a cute logo might include a happy cow holding up a sign with my business name. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated, too.

Thanks,
Kathi

Welcome to Cake Central!! I really like Bicotti Bliss. I think Parve Pleasures is nice too, but not sure a lot of people will know what Parve means.
However, if you are catering to a small group of
consumers, they will surely know what it means.
Go for it, you are offering a specialized product that is hard to find.

I wouldn't want you to lose any recognition by ditching the Biscotti Bliss name, plus I love it!

What about keeping Biscotti Bliss as your main name, and adding "and other Parve Pleasures" as a tagline to the logo.
You will keep the name people recognize currently while adding a description for those interested in Parve desserts specifically.

I understand the meaning of the happy cow but am not sure that it would translate well in an actual logo. IMO, I like simpler logos. You could use the happy cow as an additional graphic on the packaging of your products, like a sticker for the box tops.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Biscotti Bliss is great! I didn't even know what Parve was but the people who you are selling too would... and I really liked the tagline the other czyaddgrl came up with about 'and other Parve Pleasure'.

It's like the best of both worlds. And I feel like a complete dork icon_redface.gif because I sat there thinking,. what the heck does a happy cow mean? I mean, y'all had me stumped! Then of course I realized.....duh!

That's cute. icon_smile.gif

(edited to add czygrl's name)

I also like the Biscotti Bliss to stay, with a by-line. I also didn't know what parve was. To be honest, I don't like the cow thing. But we'll all keep thinking for you! Good luck.

I like both names but if I had to choose it would be Biscotti Bliss with the tag line.

On a side note, there are lots of dairy alergies in my family would you be willing to share some of your recipes with me. I would be especially interested in the cheescakes and creampuffs. How in the world can you make those dairy free????

Thanks,
LISA

Thank you everyone. I can't believe I didn't think to combine them. I really didn't want to give up on Biscotti Bliss, and thanks to you now I don't have to!!

Lisa, for parve creampuffs I use the recipe here:
http://www.joyofbaking.com/CreamPuffs.html and I substitute unsalted margerine for the butter. Use either Mother's Maregerine or Fleichman's (spelling?). They have the best flavor. For the whipped cream I substitute parve Non Dairy topping. I use Rich's Richwhip, it is incredible!

For the cheesecake I use the recipe here:
http://www.recipezaar.com/13199. I do use a graham cracker crust and have played around with the filling, but this is the basic one I use.

I hope this helps.

Thanks again,
Kathi
