Mmf Do I Ice First?

I am trying the MMF for the first time this week. I know when I use fondant I have to ice the cake first. But do I have to with MMf and if I do is buttercream ok.

Yes, you should ice under the MMF. I use buttercream just like regular fondant.

Yes you do have to put something down for the MMF to stick to, buttercream will work just fine.

I used buttercream. That way if people don't like fondant, they can peel it off. I must say though that after it set for a while, the fondant almost melted with the buttercream and you could barely tell it was there. At first it was a bit chewy, but I had another piece today and it was divine.
