Does anyone have this book? If so, is it worth paying $10-$15 for? I used a recipe from the website the other day and it was FANTASTIC, but I am just hesitant to make the leap. 80

Thanks!

Personally, I think it's worth every penny! I've made 7 or 8 cakes from it and every one of them has gotten rave reviews. There's another thread on here with reviews from several people recently so you may want to check that out too. Plus, I'm just too lazy to bake cakes from scratch. icon_smile.gif

I just got this book as a gift. I haven't made any of the cakes in it just yet but I am going to. Lots of good ideas and tips. If you aren't a very experienced baker (like me) with alot of good receipes under your hat I would highly recommend it. Before you do though, there is a thread on here where some wonderful person is trying to bake all of the cakes in the book and give us feed back on them. I will try to find the thread for you.

YES YES YES icon_biggrin.gif

I just got the book last week and although some of the recipes I will never make, the last section is just perfect for me. It has the basic "doctored" recipes. So a few choc, a few white, and a few yellow cake recipes that you use buttermilk, sour cream, yogurt or milk in instead of the water called for by the box, along with melted butter etc. I am surprised what a simple change in these ingredients changes it from cake mix flavored to homemade tasting. Soooo yummy!! If I hadn't been in such a hurry to have it I'd have just ordered it along with a few other books for cheaper off of Amazon and gotten the free shipping icon_rolleyes.gif

I recently bought the book and can't wait to try some of the recipes.

Depending on where you live if you have a Borders Book store, sign up online with them as they send you newsletters and coupons. I think I bought mine with a 20% off coupon I received. Every little bit helps.

I have the Cake Mix Doctor, the Cupcakes from the Cake Mix Doctor and Chocolate from the Cake Mix Doctor... I haven't tried any of the cakes yet, but I will be doing some of them soon... I like to try out new stuff on co-workers and family first to get their feedback icon_biggrin.gif

I recently purchased the book at Sam's Club for under $10. I think it is well worth the money. There are many great recipes in the book.

I have the book and love it. I prefer to use cake mixes rather than from scratch, they seem more moist. It is worth the money!!

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I will read the thread when I get a few minutes! I made the White Almond Sour Cream cake with almond buttercream icing this weekend and it was delicious! I'm just a cheap-skate, so glad to know it'll be worth it. Thanks again!!
