I posted this in another forum.. im looking for the most advice so I wanted to post here also.

I had a couple call me and they are in a bind and need a wedding cake in 2 weeks... I have not done a wedding cake yet... so I have some questions...

First off the reception isnt until 5:30 and I will need to drop the cake off at 12:00pm... is this too early?? I will be using Crisco only buttercream so that I dont have to worry about the refridgeration... but will it be ok and still taste good sitting out uncovered for that long?

Next they want stairs on the cake.. I have only done stacked 3 layer cakes and one cake in class with the pillars but only two layers... advise or pictures or instructions on attaching stairs to a cake ?? ANYONE???

Any advise for a first timer would be appreciated!

TIA

The Wilton side will have pictures of cakes with stairs. Generally, they just lean up against the side of the cake or cake plate.

If there is airconditioning in the event site, it should be fine for several hours. Be sure the table isn't sitting directly in front of a sunny window.

Also, be sure to find out if the event location has restrictions about licensed food/cake vendors. Youwould not want to be turned away when you deliver the cake.
