I had a couple call me and they are in a bind and need a wedding cake in 2 weeks... I have not done a wedding cake yet... so I have some questions...

First off the reception isnt until 5:30 and I will need to drop the cake off at 12:00pm... is this too early?? I will be using Crisco only buttercream so that I dont have to worry about the refridgeration... but will it be ok and still taste good sitting out uncovered for that long?

Next they want stairs on the cake.. I have only done stacked 3 layer cakes and one cake in class with the pillars but only two layers... advise or pictures or instructions on attaching stairs to a cake ?? ANYONE???

Any advise for a first timer would be appreciated!

TIA

First of all, stairs are very simple to do. I believe I have 1 of my staired cakes in my photos. I don't do them very often anymore...seems like they aren't as popular. I use to do them all the time. You basically just place the stairs on the cake. Joann Fabric and Michaels usually sell the stair sets.
The cake will be fine sitting out for those hours. That's not too long. Just make sure you dowel it well. And it should be fine.
Good luck!! Kristen
