Hi, I've had a request by my neighbor for a fried apple pie like the ones he had as a child in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. I'm pretty sure I know what he's talking about, and maybe fried pies are strictly a "southern" thing, but I don't have a recipe for making one. I think these would go over great in my area, though, as an alternative to cookies and brownies and that sort of thing. Any tried and true recipes out there?

gilson - Thanks for the link, also! That's a great site for every kind of recipe, and I hadn't seen it before. I'm definitely bookmarking it!

I would love to have the recipe too if it wouldn't be too much trouble for someone to send it to me, thanks.

i dont have a recipe persay. i make something similar..its a local pastry here in jamaica. its called a plantain tart. you roll out any good pie dough fill with the filling and bake. you can do the pie the same way. cook a pie filling if you are doing it from scratch. roll out your pie dough. cut out rounds or squares whichever you wish. put a bit of filling in the middle...fold over the dough..seal it with water first and then crimp it with a fork to further seal it and then fry. when i can i will post some step by step pics. but if you have any questions before i get to do that ask them here or pm them.
