OK, after reading, viewing, and gathering much inspiration, I finally decided to post my cakes.

Everyone here is soooo talented and willing to help each other, it's amazing!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Please take a look and I'd be happy to hear any comments or suggestions.

Sorry about the photos; some are kind of blurry.....but hey, let me learn how to decorate cakes first then I'll take up photography icon_lol.gificon_wink.gif

Your cakes look great! As a newbie too, I know what you mean about waiting to post. Although I've been doing family cakes for about six or seven years, I have only posted cakes I've done within the last year. icon_smile.gif

This place is definitely the place to post your cakes and keep learning. I am amazed and extremely grateful for cc members and their willingness to help and support. Keep your cakes coming! icon_smile.gif

I'm jealous that you can do so good with your writing on your cakes. That is the part that I hate the most. A simple "Happy Birthday" sends me into a tail spin. I bought the stencils and still hate it.

On a different subject certainly related to photos in general . . . I've tried to upload photos but they are too large, I'm told. How do you re-size photos in order to have them be accepted? Anyone have this same problem but solved it?!?!?!?!? HELP!

I have looked at all of your photos, and left comments. I don't know how old you are or how long you have been decorating.....but I think you are going to make a lot of people happy with the cakes they get from you. First off, I like sheet cakes. I think they show real creativity. I love the different things you use to make the whole thing edible and easy to serve. Your ideas are fun. Your writing is great. .....and of course I think buttercream is the only way to go. I won't wish you good luck because you are creative and won't have to rely on luck to do well. Just keep on baking, decorating, and having fun with it.

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement! I'm making a StarWars theme cake this weekend. I'm actually looking forward to posting the final creation!

To JoJoMick: I haven't had problems with uploading pictures, but like dl5crew, I've used picasa.com for other projects....real cool!

okay,BCJean I posted a comment about your "deer" cake and I am posting one here! I have got to know how you did that! I have a friend who is desperate for a deer theme cake and I have been racking my brains! Anyway you would be willing to help a newcomer and give me lots of detail on how that was done?!
Thanks!

your cakes are amazing!

i don't think anyone should hold back on posting their cakes. nobody on cc will talk trash about them. posting them will at worst get you some constructive criticism, but most of the time you realize that you're your own worst critic and everyone else loves your cakes. i think putting my cakes here, even the ones that i really didn't like or i'd totally messed up on, has really helped me sustain my hobby. all the positive energy on cc and all the encouragement and tips have helped me to grow as a cake decorator.

take advantage of such a wonderful and supportive community. post your pics!

i have kodak easy share and too had issues resizing photos, but once i learned, it is not hard at all...
1. click on the photo you want to resize
2. click edit
3. click on save as
4. at the bottom, choose to resize and select best for web. this option defaults to 100%, so this is what you may see before you change it.
5. choose a name for your new sized photo..i always name them resized.
