My husband said "honey I was amazed at how calm you were..."
the words "drunken stupor" come to mind
LOL funny DiscoLady! Drunken Stupor. haha
Great job and thanks so much for sharing with us and taking the pics along the way of your progress!
I need to take staying calm lessons from you! (or maybe starte sipping on a little beverage )
I would have freaked out and cried!! You did an awesome job repairing that!! He is so so cute!!
What a save- absolutely fabulous! I would have been crumpled on the floor with George! We would really love to know how you turned this situation around and you deserve a couple of gold stars for pulling this off. Hey, a 1-800 number or website for cake repair and disasters would be great (so would the champagne!) PAT
It was certainly a late night, but well worth the effort! Thanks particularly for the progression of photos as you pulled it back together - the cake is absolutely amazing - you didn't let it stop you, and I'm sure your customer was absolutely thrilled!
Congrats!

Awsome repair work! I'm still wondering how did you accomplish this feat. Please, enlighten me.
To fix this?
Well first of all the corner that pulled off was still pretty much intact, so I smeared some icing on the torn side of the cake and pressed the corner into it and stuck a lollipop stick horizontally thru that piece and into the cake. Then I iced over that with more icing. After I scraped off the arms I propped George's fat head onto the middle of the cake instead, using the same support I did in the corner (see photo), just like adding a second tier to a cake. Then I used extra cake slices to build up his upper back before piping on the basic body shape. I covered up some smeared areas with butterflys. I wish I had taken a better close-up picture of the patch. Luckily it was in the back of the cake.
Hey, now that I'm looking at this again I didn't even do his feet right! I didn't finish them! I meant to make them look more like feet with toes. EGADS!!! They look totally funky and I didn't even notice until now!!!
Wow!!! I'd never be able of accomplishing all that repair work. You make it sound easy, but no way I could do it. Congrats!!!
Thanks for the enlightening! Wow!!!
Your description of the event still have me giggling. As soon as my husband heard a plopping sound he would have gone into "oh OOH were's my wife" mode. LOL. Seriously, great job on the fix and the final product. Where did you get the directions for this design?

Initially I used Kittysparkles design she used for a sesame street cake but when that didn't go quite right I improvised. The decorations themselves were copied from a picture of the movie where CG is painting the walls of a room. That little BRAT!
That is the cutest CG cake I've ever seen! So adorable-great fix!! My son just got the movie for his 4th birthday and we've seen it every day since!! He would LOVE this cake!
What an amazing job - as everyone has stated you wouldn't even know you had a "disaster". I would love to make this cake too! Can you explain or send me some directions on how you did his head - I understand that it is cake - right? What shape did you bake? Thanking you in advance.
Great save! I would have freaked out and probably just started over. It looks really good!
