Ok, now that I've calmed down, I really liked Momo, I think he is very talented. He was nice when he said he would give 1/2 the money to his mom. AAWWW sweet. Duff's skyline really was the cleanest, and the most colorful and the best. Too bad about that chick's sugar building, she should have stopped fooling with it. Her's was too busy I think, but I liked seeing her do the signs with the candy melts (I think). I wonder if I could do that? Yeah right, NOT!

Why did Momo get to use the plastic tube but Duff had to ditch the dowel?

I am so GLAD that Duff walked away w/ the gold! I couldn't believe that Elizabeth Faulkner being SO whiny to the judges...what a - I'm glad she had trouble w/ her "work" Duff remained SO professional, I would have been tempted to walk by her work and bump it and say "boy reflexes are awful, aren't they!"

I think his win shows he's the better artist anyways! Oh and talk about that judge who works w/ Guittard chocolates saying "he was not impressed w/ Duff's technique" -....whatever!

Congratulations to Duff, but, I have to say how ridiculous I thought the entire idea was. I was rolling my eyes for an hour. It was like a car crash that I couldn't look away from.

I did think Momo's ingenuity ranked highest. Duff's was the "neatest". Manhattan's village was a huge mess, and don't even get me started with the Twin Towers. I think these people are very talented, but what was the point? It's not like anyone is now frantically booking food artists to build things out of rice krispies.

whatever...I guess it's just entertainment, after all....right?

But......what was that little line Duff said about never having worked with this stuff before? Did I hear him right? cause he uses it on every episode of Ace of Cakes.

i wish we could have seen more of the details on duff's piece. we only got to see a few glimpses at the end of the show.
duff's was definitely clean but i think momo's was much more beautiful to look at. i think it was the use of airbrush on top of the gorgeous sculpting that got me. i'm not sure what the deal was with that plastic tube being allowed. maybe that's one of the reasons he didn't win. (besides the fact that he didn't meet the height requirement)

this was definitely duff's best work in a foodntwk competition. congrats to him.

I literally jumped up off the couch and clapped my hands above my head as I let out a wolf call while shaking my bootilicious when Duff and Geof won the competition. My family just sat there in bewilderment with their jaws dropped and stared at me when I reacted as I did!

But what the "hey", he has been dealing with some pretty snooty judges and it is about damn time he gets what he deserves.

Nice Job, Duff and Geoff! We are sooooooooooo very proud of you! Have fun in Costa Rica in February!!!!!!

At the end when they showed the audience, Moydear and I were in the back row (I was holding the baby, she and her daughter were to my left)..

Duff's piece was AMAZING in person - I don't think we've EVER seen Duff work so neat and tidy! His piece looked so much neater when we saw it that day. The colors were amazing on his and consistent where the others were really not as neatly done with the airbrushing.

As for the others, the large New York piece really looked better on TV than it did live. For Momo's piece, part of it actually toppled over when they had finished filming the main part of the day and were doing the judges meetings. Too bad the cameras weren't running to catch that part.

But, YAYYYYYYYY!!!! Duff Won!!! (and the cute quote after they handed him the check "Does this mean I can finally be a judge???")

Geez, I gotta get to bed. I can't believe it's 12:40 a.m. - I worked a 12 hour shift at work today (Sunday), came home from work, baked 200 mini cheesecakes and s'mores mini cupcakes, and I have to be up in 4 hours to work another 12 hour shift from 6am-6pm today. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME THAT I'M SITTING HERE ON CC AT THIS HOUR????

I started screaming and clapping and crying all at the same time. I'm hormonal, but at the same time I was just freaking happy - I respect Duff and love his attitude and personality and everything else about him. I told my husband that if I wasn't married to him, I'd be chasing Duff hard - a rocker, cake artist and a funny man? BE STILL MY HEART!
