If you have seen Camille Allens Polymer Clay babies that are often mistaken for Marzipan in an email that has been going around for the past few years. Here is a link to an eBAY seller named Cheryl Trottier who makes similar babies of clay, but they can be made of fondant, gumpaste or 50/50 paste. She sells the babies face molds along with the DVD on how they are made. I will warn you ahead of time, the DVD is annoying, the music and her pet bird chirping in the background are distracting, but she does show how she models the bodies and they are very sweet little miniature babies.

It takes a few minutes for all of the photos to load, but they are worth waiting for.

Mmm, looking at it though it says the molds are made of polymer clay. I don't think that is suggested as food safe at all, even when cooked. From my understanding, it is actually quite toxic.

But it looks like she does offer a "food safe" option, so make sure you request that if you do get them from her.

She does offer a food safe and that is what I bought. But I would never let anyone eat these anyway, especially if you add mohair yarn for hair.

Thanks for this link, these babies are enchanting!!!

Has anyone used these for sugar paste/ gum paste etc?

I have been playing with modelling, using different materials using the wilton moulds, but my paste is always to soft and I end up with crash test dummy look alikes....

I am very tempted to get these though! I love the itsy bitty babies and the smaller fairy faces!

I bought the molds and the DVD Anne, but have not tried them as yet. I am thinking the best modeling mixture would be 50/50 paste, half gumpaste, half fondant kneaded together.

I bought them also with the food safe molds and dvd. I havent used them as yet but I am planning on trying to soon. The video seemed very helpful, I think it really helps to see it done. She also sends really good directions with her stuff too.
