Where Do You Leave Your Iced Cookies To Dry???

hi....where do you leave your iced cookies overnight to dry and not have the ants go all over them??
Knock on wood --- I don't have an ant problem. I stack cookie-filled cakeboards by placing those little plastic 'tables' that hold a pizza box up off the pizza on the board below. If you take the top rack of your oven out, you can stack the boards up in there. BE SURE TO TAPE A PIECE OF PAPER OVER THE OVEN CONTROLS!!!!
Oh Mbarbi, I feel for you. When we lived in Oregon we had a terrible ant problem. They could find food just about anywhere. (I had a bag of candy (all wrapped, sealed in a ziplock) in my linen closet one time and they found it!! ) I learned to just put drying cookies up as high as possible. I would put them on trays and set them on the ledge above my cuboards, or sometimes I would even set up a card table in my bedroom (which was upstairs-- not as many ants) and stack the cookie sheets on that. Good luck. I know it's frustrating!! Not as many ants here in Idaho, thank goodness!
Woa-- double post. Sorry! Is there a way to delete a post when they double up like that?
I put them in a single layer on jelly roll pans (the ones with short sides) and then cover the pans with that sticky plastic wrap from Glad. That way, they are covered, but the plastic wrap sticks to the side of the pans and doesn't touch the top of the cookies.
thanks for your replies ...i left my cookies in the dining table...hoping that the ants wont get to them...i used this chalk ant killer and wrote on the floor around the dining table.
and also hoping that the glaze will dry so i can pack them tomorrow.
My commercial kitchen is in the lower portion of our home ... therefore, my best defense was asking my son to squirt "Home Defense" around the perimiter of our house, some of the lower windows and across all thresholds. I haven't had an ant in the house all summer!! You can get this product at Ace, Home Depot, etc. I've never used it inside the home before even though I think you can according to the directions.
when I run out of kitchen counter space...I set up the ironing board and dry them there.
no ants here...I live in a high rise and they haven't ventured up this far yet.
Tscookies....... Is that one of those pizza racks? What are the cookies laying on?
That is so neat that you can fit so many cookies on that rack!
Yes - that's exactly what it is. They're sitting on cutting boards, which I had cut for me at a plastic mfg. company (4x24 and 6x24). You could always use heavy cardboard wrapped in wax paper if you don't have to account to the health dept.
I have a scrapbook room with a large table. I put my cookies in there and leave them to dry. It has a door on it I can lock to keep the kiddos out. It is nice because I keep my bags in there and my ribbon and boxes so I finish them all up in that same room!
i want to make a cookie boquet for the first time. how do you put the cookie sticks in the mug or pot and make them stable? do you place a foam or something to prevent them from moving?
tscookies...that's brilliant. it also looks like the drying racks you can get at art stores. very nice idea!!! i splurged and picked up a rack. no ants yet...knock on wood
Hubby works construction and has had to run and get ice for the guys. Well, the cheapest place around is a commercial kitchen supply company in Cleveland! Yippee!! Hubby picked up two 18x26 bun pan/sheets for me so far and we are going to construct our own version of a rack since we don't have room for the whole rack right now. I have heavyduty shelves holding my supplies right now and we are making it to fit on top of that shelf (the shelves are wide, not tall). It will basically be a box with square dowels nailed in to support the sheets. I can't wait!! Of course it isn't going to happen before I start baking 378 cookies for my next order.....tonight!. Darn.
I don't have an ants problem TGOD but you can place a cup in the middle of a plate and then fill the plate with water and put the card boards on top. The water will keep them away..... I had to do it one and it worked with some cakes a baked. Good luck )

I don't have an ant problem, but I have a kid problem, LOL, so I use the oven and the microwave, then I make sure and put a paper over the oven controls so that I dont turn it on (I have been known to do that a few times....lost my wilton turning cake plate that way LOL)
I keep mine in a rack just like kneadacookie. However my rack is half the size. I bought mine at a used kitchen appliance store.
I dont have ant problems but I do know that if you put a little cornstarch down, they will eat it and eventually end up dying.... they can't digest it.
It's kind of mean, but it keeps them away.
