I just did a test cake using the 3D bear pan (the large one), the actual cake for my DDs 3rd birthday I'm baking on Thursday. After reading lots of tips on CC, I decided to leave out the core and I reduced the temp from 190C to 170C (not sure what that is in deg F) and cooked it for one hour. After about 10 minutes it started to overflow, which I thought was a good thing as it would mean that the pan was was filling out fully, but it just kept over flowing for the next 10 minutes and when I took the cake out, there was a big hole in the centre (as if I'd had the core in and then pulled it out!) Please see the pics. I would really appreciate some advice on this, I know there are a lot of you have have used this pan and I've not come across this among the disasters that have occured!

Hi Kelly
I have baked this bear about 4 - 5 times and never had a problem. I've never used the core because i bougth the pan without it. My batter starts to overflow a lot sooner than yours did, hm, strange. I bake mine at 180 degrees though. Dunno if that would have had something to do with it.
I usually fill mine up to the start of the feet, and when it grows and overfills, it fills up the whole pan.
cheers
Nati

Thanks for the reply boonenati! How long do you usually bake yours for? I think I may have overfilled the pan with batter, can't think of any other reason for it overflowing so much, not sure why it kept flowing over and left a gaping great hole in it though!
