Hey All,
Does IMBC crust at all? I'm making a cake next week for a birthday and I want to either use parchment paper to smooth or do the upside down icing technique and I want a recipe that crusts. The only buttercream I've used has been the Wilton recipe, which I'm not partial to, but will use if it's the best option for a crusting recipe.
Any suggestions?

Good Morning jillchap!! Sorry but IMBC will not crust. Oh how I wish it did!! icon_cry.gif I have a recipe here that is light, fluffy and will crust. I think will you be way more happy with it than the Wilton recipe.

Dream Whip Icing

2lbs or 1 kg bag of confectioners sugar
1 pkg dream whip
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups Crisco shortening
2 tsp clear vanilla flavoring
1 Tbsp clear corn syrup

Whip up till fluffy. No need for refrigeration but it is fine in the fridge as well. Tastes great, not so sweet and crusts well.

Hope that helps, ~Denise
