Is that fun or what?? I loved the big mask! That dinousar cake it just blows my mind. I like the idea of practicing the shape with the dummies. And did you see the bumper cars?? sooooooo cute, they look great on the tables.
I really like the happy enviroment at the shop and also that we are not the only ones that have it all planned in our minds and when it comes to practice is not how we tought it would be and we go back to the drawing board or brainstorming, I love these guys!!
And most of all I enjoy seeing how they bring out their inner child!!!

Hey Mary Alice, you guys did it again, great show. Maybe this time we can get a message from Duff?? icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I also really enjoyed the show tonight! Their playfullness in the shop is awesome! My favorite cake(s) were the bumper cars....SO original, and easy too! I think I could make those!

I know, center piece cakes are really in now, I really like that concept, is more useful than the traditional flowers.

I liked the way he got the idea on how to do the dinosaur's tail. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif I'm still laughing about that. icon_lol.gif

I really like being at home...but if i were closer, I would love to work with them! It's such a great environment and they are an awesome team! I too, loved the bumper cars!

And, I really liked the idea of practicing the cake size with dummies! If I had room to store them I would love to do that as a way to mock up a wedding cake for the bride to see what she wants. Sketches are great, but sometimes it would be really nice to be able to show them the exact size they are ordering...some of the brides are just clueless, when it comes to things like that!

I am soooooooooo addicted to the show and can't wait all week to see it, then, when it is over, I feel so bummed. Ace of Cakes needs to be an hour long show!! icon_lol.gif Each week I learn something new!!

All I can say is that I have been busier than ever. I think Cake Decorating is really catching on and people are starting to know that store bought cakes are just "not cool". Custom designed, sculptured and themed cakes are "IN" and we are the ones to deliver! Whoooo Hoooooo!

Thanks, Ace of Cakes, for letting people see into your Kewl World! We love it!!!

okay, I love the show........but I am constantly surprised that they use so many inedible things......I mean I understand needing stability in the structure of cakes ie: the copper pipes etc. but why was there rope in the dinosaur??? Is anyone going to eat that?? OMG did anyone bust out laughing at Duff when he had his airbrushed hair and beard on??? I thought I was going to die!!!!!!

Has anyone in western Canada seen this show (Alberta)??? What time is it on for us?? Same time as in California?? I went to the Food Network site and it says Tursdays @ 10:30/9:30 central time...I waited and I watched and it wasn't on. It looks like a fabulous show on the food network site, and everyone here is raving over it...Do we have different food network show in Canada or what is the deal??? I want to see this Duff guy too!!

I missed the first couple of minutes...I waited all week and then got sucked into another new show when I jumped up from the sofa and yelled, "Oh, no Ace of Cakes is on!" and ran into the other room to watch it (My husband thinks I'm nuts by the way!)
I loved the bumper cars and the henna cakes also. I mean, how fun were those cars?? icon_lol.gif And the henna cake--wow! As much as I love the show & Duff, I think Geof is my favorite. He is so laid back and really 'evens' Duff out, if you know what I mean. Oh, who am I kidding, I think the whole staff seems amazing and it really is fun to watch them all work together!!

KHalstead-the dino was really more for show. They used rope because the poor girl making the dino was about to kill someone cause the krispies just weren't cutting it for this project. The rope just gave the tail the fullness and stability they needed.

so what's the deal? Has Mary Alice been on here???? cool.

Thanks! I realized, duh, I could do a search and found her posts. It's cool that they take time to respond instead of having someone just checking sites out to see what the buzz is. thumbs_up.gif

I thought it was too funny when he said that his inspiration for making the tail out of rope came from him making a bong in college.

I thought Mary did an AWESOME job on the Mendhi cake. And, did you see that "dress up like Duff" card, with the length of fur to make his goatee!!! That cracked me up!! This whole show was really good, every piece was good.

I made sure that I told my husband about the bong, I'm trying to get him to watch the show. If I can get him interested in doing some of this stuff I won't have to learn to weld. icon_twisted.gif

Also search for Marydesmith. She is one of the girls on the show (I think she did the mehndi cake?) and she is also a member here and has posted.

I am so addicted to this show! I look forward to it all week, my husband thinks I'm crazy! I love everything that goes on in the shop, and like it when they show them delivering etc. I grew up just south of DC and have gone to Baltimore a lot and it is always exciting to see something from "home" on tv.
My husband and I just had our 2 year anniversary and we went to Baltimore's inner harbor to the Aquarium and the shops around there for the day. I wish we could have vitited Charm City Cakes too! I know they don't allow visitors though and respect that, but it would have been cool to be able to see it in person for our anniversary!
I wish I had know about them when I got married! We loved the cake we got when we got married, but still the ones from there are so cool!
I hope the food network will consider making it an hour show and keep it on the air for a long time! The bumper cars were amazing as was the mendhi cake. The dino was an absolute hoot, it was funny to see the kids stick their fingers in the cake and poke at it and all, it's so typical!
I wish I could work there!
