I've made the Darn Good Chocolate cake a couple of times and wasn't too happy with the results, but I think I just left it in too long...so I'm trying it again. Only problem is...I don't have any pudding mix. Can I substitute a pudding cup and take out some of the water?? I need to make 2 of these and 2 white cakes for the 4 cakes I have to make for this weekend. Please help if you can!

THANKS!
Melissa

I have no idea about using the pudding but I wanted to say that I made this for the first time this week and wasn't happy with it either. I felt like the crust was too dry. I gave it to a customer today covered in the buttercream dream recipe and I got an email from three of the people who ate it about how much they loved it, how moist it was, and yummy. I was so worried they wouldn't like it and it seems they felt the complete opposite! I may give it another try. I hope someone else can help you.

I make this all the time...I call it chocolate fudge and it is my best seller. My helper was making a bunch of these batches the other day and by mistake completly forgot to add the pudding all together. It turned out just fine...you would of never of known that it was missing! HTH!

I mixed it with a white cake (to marble) and didn't like it either ,,, had several people tell me it was too dry ... but then one lady said that she liked it better than a box mix and that I could make it again for her ... then again the first cake HAD been for her, so maybe she was just being nice! icon_confused.gif

Hey, thanks everyone. I found some pudding mix that my fiance had bought and hidden.......why? i have no idea. Anyway, It seems to have turned out better this time. It's very rich. Let's hope the customer likes it! Thanks for your support!
