Ebay Style CakeCentral

Jackie,
I'm just thinking out loud here, with the wonderful additon of the store (I'm gonna be broke) and your inquiries about carrying cake products, how about an "Ebay" style shop for members and cakecentral to sell cake/candy/cookie decorating products? CakeCentral then could take a cut of the sales. I know we all have things we want to sell and buy.

Just a thought. (not that I have ever been accused of thinking to much) Heather

Sounds like a good idea to me! I know I would like to offer some items for sale and to be able to buy some too. Janice

Hmm.. I was looking and guess nothing ever happened with this. I have some supports to sell and would have love to put them here. Do you think we could get a for sale section on the board?

At this time a "For Sale" section is not something I will be implementing.

There are a lot of reasons why, but here are 2 of the most important points:
1. The forums strictly prohibit commercial aka "Spam" postings. By allowing "for sale" types of posts, it opens a "pandora's box" of advertisements and spam, that we just do not have the time or manpower to moderate.
2. It is much better to list your items with a company such as ebay where they have policies and guidelines in place to protect the sellers and buyers.

It's still a possiblity that we may implement an auction style area just for cakecentral members in the future, however this is a huge undertaking and more than a year away due to the vast amount of programming required.

How about a way that we could post either our Ebay name or a link to our auctions then. Or a forum area where we could direct others to our auctions or let others know what we have for sale. You don't have to be held liable for anything and that would be one of the rules, but a place to keep all of that stuff together.

One solution to this request would be to place a link to your ebay auction or ebay seller page in your signature. This way everytime you post in response to a thread your link is viewed. This is a way to make people aware without directly posting a topic about it.

Just remember that a link is cool in the signature, an entire advertisement is not.

I don't have anything to sell icon_smile.gif I just thought it'd be nice for those that do to be able to alert their cake friends from here. I know the Tupperware consultant's message board has an area to list your items for sale to the other consultants that's why I mentioned it!

How about just a classifieds listing type forum where people could list the things they want to unload and if someone wants to buy it they deal with them personally with *NO* connection to CC? I know another forum I visit does this and explicitly limits these posts to only the classifieds section.

That sounds good... And isn't COD a good method of payment?? I mean, you will only lose out on shipping right? I mean if the person does not fall through????
