I made this cake for my mom and I have had a request for cakes like this one from her coworkers when I went to drop it off, it was a HUGE hit there. Anyway this was a pretty expensive cake to make. The hazelnut cookies on the outside cost me $12, the hazlenut filling and frosting flavoring was $3.25 and then te cost of the ingredients to make the cake and the buttercream and the orchids. I would estimate the cost of this cake to be about $25 to make. So how would I charge for the cake alone and then for the cake with the gumpaste orchids? It is an 8" round 4.5"high.

If you go by the cost of supplies x3 it would be $75 for the cake without the orchids? that seems a bit steep then how much would I charge for the orchids on top?

thanks for any pricing advice I can get on this.

I think this cake is beautiful. However, if you think it is a bit pricey for your area. Then think about offering the cake without the cookies around it. Find something less expensive to sub it with, that way you could give the customer that cannot afford the $75.00 an option. Still supply them with a great tasting cake and gain more customers....just a thought...
