Ok, come on, I am not talking about my clothes or the way I decorate my house! icon_lol.gif

I have a new problem... I made a batch of mini loaf zucchini bread (which I usually love) and thought it tasted terrible. The client 'tested' a loaf when I delivered it because she couldn't wait, and her eyes flew open, she was in love. I made an apple cake (which I normally adore) and it tasted like crap to me. The client went berserk over it. Today I made a carrot cake and thought it looked, smelled, and tasted like hammered poo... guess what? Yup, you guessed it. (I take a smidge of the batter and make a seperate cupcake when I am making these types of things so that I can be sure they turn out ok, in case you were wondering why I would say they taste bad icon_wink.gif )

What is going on with me? I am a great cook/baker and I normally love these things... so why does everything taste like garbage to me right now?

That could just be it, you have been making the stuff for so long it just doesn't taste good to you anymore. Ya think? The constant smell and many times of tate testing have gotten to you! icon_smile.gif

Are you getting sick? Do you have problems with allergies? Right now when the farmers start harvesting the corn around here, my allergies are horrible. When I have problems with allergies, nothing tastes good to me. It sounds wierd I know, but when I don't feel good, my taste buds get out of whack.

That is how we always say it in out family anyway, lol.

Being the mon I am, I would need to know if you have a stuffy nose, or sinus problems, this can keep you from tasting,

by the way "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!"

Hehehe... thank you okred!!

And you guys are probably right, I am just kind of 'over it' right now. I don't really have problems with allergies (at least I haven't in the past), but I haven't been feeling quite 'right' lately... trying not to get sick I suppose. I am sure I will come around soon enough. It's kind of been happening with all food lately. The other day I bit into a piece of prime rib (Um, hello? YUM!!) and spit it right back out. It just didn't taste good to me.

Maybe God is trying to help me with a diet. You'd think I'd be smart enough to listen! icon_wink.gif

Well, first thing that came to mind for me was .... "How far along is she?". Tastes usually change when a woman is baking in her own personal oven, ya know?

OMG!! Are you guys working for my mother?!?! I have one child (15 months) and he has cleft lip and palate, and we are now at a place where we won't be having surgery for a little while, so she is on me to make him a sister. (I had a short break from her whining because she knew how hard it was to go through all this medical rigamarole!!) Unfortunately unless I am less than 3 days pregnant it's not possible, if you get my subtlety here! icon_redface.gif I mean I just ovulated at the end of last week. Although... I wouldn't be sad if that were the "problem". I do want a second baby someday!! icon_lol.gif

LMAO ok in NO way whatsoever am I laughing at the fact that you aren't fond of the way things taste right now, but when you called the carrot cake "hammered poo" I literally spit on the screen and snorted so hard my dog almost flew off the couch!!

That one came out of nowhere.. GOOD JOB lol!

Well, I would say it is possible. But, it could also be that you're getting sick. By all means, keep us informed!

A womans body can change at the very moment of conception. But ten again, you can be preggers and still have your menses. You had better think about having a test.

OK DANG IT!! I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE HAPPY!

I am seriously thinking about going in there and taking the test I have left from when I bought a two pack with the first baby. Just because things taste funny. Oh, my mother would die. Two babies? She'd be in heaven! She LOVES grandbabies!!

I can't believe I am seriously thinking about testing. I know I'm not. But I think I am glowing just at the thought of being you-know-what!! That was the best nine months of my life. Well... ok, it's been pretty awesome actually HAVING him too!! icon_lol.gif

either you are getting sick, have allergies or are PREGO! my taste buds change with the mentioned above and in case it's the last one wait as long as you can till you take a test. I had 5 come up negative in 1 week to have a blood test come back "inconclusive" icon_confused.gif sure enough I got tested again a few days later and I was pregnant with #3! I knew I was pregnant even though those horrid little pee sticks told me negative!

I don't believe you guys 'got' to me that quick. You know I already went in and took that stupid test. Of course it was negative... but that doesn't mean a lot. I really don't think I am, but when I got pregnant with Alex the test came back negative twice I think. Oh sheesh... this is just silly. I am not pregnant. But what if... that would be sooooo cool! Alex was very much planned, it would be kinda neat if his little sister came along as a surprise!! icon_lol.gif

Yep... I think I was nauseous the minute the egg his the sperm and stayed that way for 12 weeks. The smell of food was enough to send me running and it all tasted like crap too.

OOOH! I hope you are PG! My son just turned one and I am starting to get baby fever again. icon_cry.gif

Well if you are that excited about having another baby then I hope your dream comes true. Nothing better then a mommy and daddy that really wants a baby and they get one.

However, I do want to tell you that this same thing happened to me once. I even went to the dr over it. You know what she told me? She said ever 7 years the body goes through a major change and often as adults you find out that things you love you can no longer stand and things you used to hate you now love.

I used to love eggs. Cooked anyway. Now I think I would die if I had to eat one. YUCK! If it is cooked in something that I can see or really taste as egg I'm ok.

Plus I used to hate hate hate oninons and anything that had them in there I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot poll. Now I love them. Well I still don't care for raw ones but I love cooked ones and onion rings are to die for.

I've told this to a few people and they said they had things like that happen also.

Strange but true. Thats why childrens taste seems to change as they get older. Or so I'm told.

Joanne

It's true about the taste changes. When I was a kid, if a green pepper even touched another food I wouldn't eat it. I mean, bumped against it on the plate... didn't matter if the taste got on it. Now, my favorite pizza or omelette has a ton of green pepper!! Supreme pizza or omelettes are my faves!! It's weird, isn't it? I ate a sliver of the carrot cake this morning to give it a second chance... ok, it was good. icon_wink.gif

I think that everything tastes better when someone else has made it. Does anyone else feel that way? I am my own worst critic, and can spend forever trying to make something taste better, when someone who has never tasted it before thinks its fabulous. As someone posted earlier, you may just be "used" to the taste, and may even be getting a little sick of it?? Just a thought icon_biggrin.gif Happy baking! -B.

Sinus issues can change taste too.
My sinuses had gotten bad enough once that I didn't have taste or smell. I didn't smell anything for 2 months. I finally had to have surgery.

Anyway, it could be your olfactory thing in your nose if you are getting enough oxegyn to it - it can change smell & taste.
