Okay... so I'm back with my second cake... It did not do anything that I had hoped it would! But I'm still fairly pleased as this is only my second cake and I'm learning as I go.... So let me know what you all think!

I'm having trouble smoothing the top of the cake completely. It drives me mad... I'll sit there for like thirty minutes trying to smooth it. Any ideas.. I'm sure you all have plenty!

have you tried using a crusting Bc and the viva method??

I'm still fairly new... so you'll have to educate me... what is the "viva" method!!! do tell! Thanks icon_razz.gif

you can use a spatula dipped in hot water.if u have used crusting buttercream u can try viva method. goodluck.

Ice your cake and let it sit to "crust" about 5 minutes, then use a Viva paper towel to lay on top and slightly rub to smooth. Lots of luck!!

If you try the hot knife ,remember to dry it off or icing may run.
Also do you have a turn table? this is what I use and have had great results.
