You could also try tracing the picture on wax paper and filling it in with Royal icing. I do that with all my characters.... I haven't tried the buttercream transfer, but because royal icing works so good for me, I don't think I will change...
Here's an example of the Royal icing characters... I keep wax paper attached on the back to give it stability and make it easier when picking it up...

Here's another one with Royal Icing...
I made the character stand up by attaching sucker sticks with tape in the back... Even the sign behind them that says Fairly Oddparents and the letters on the 2nd tier are made of Royal Icing...
AYeah, but surely those are copyrighted images, and not in the public domain for free use?

Not that it makes any difference, but this thread is from 2005.
AJanette revived a nine year old thread to say thank you? Janette, I think you are taking good manners to the extreme! ;) lol! Actually, I was wondering if the recent spamming mess would cause a lot of old threads to resurface.

Could be. I've seen some really odd ball stuff resurface at times. Usually those are the posts that get the spammer links.
MMMmmm MMMM mmmm! Leaving the waxed paper on sounds like just the sort of fiber I need!
I was wondering about that, I was imagining me telling a client how to eat or not eat it
