Someone "decorated" my cake! - Page 3

I am so sorry this happened to you. I too would have been outrageously annoyed at this woman. The good news is the "before psycho flower person" pics are just stunning and you should be really proud. I am sorry but I have to agree with everyone else the "after psycho flower person" pics are just bad. It's a shame the bride was never able to see how pretty her wedding cake once was.

I would of been pissed because if someone asked where she got the cake from she is going to say you and I wouldnt want people thinking I did such a crappy job with the flowers. If she left the monogram on and just did the flowers around the base or on the table its one thing but the "throwing the dart" effect as someone put it looks aweful.
Your cake was stunning and Im sure if the bride saw it beforehand, she would of agreed to leave it alone. Probably the mother in law putting her two cents in or something! We all know how that goes!

OMG I don't even know what to say. Whether or not the flowers are pretty is not the point (the flowers suck by the way). I think the real point is- how on earth did they have the nerve?

I know that no one would have touched my cake with me standing there without signing some sort of release. I think I would have picked up my cake ('cause its still mine at the point of delivery) and demanded to have the person who is paying sign a release even if I had to hand write something simple. When I deliver and set up I am trying to make sure the cake is going to be cut properly to serve the number of people it is supposed to, that it is stored/cut promptly depending on icings or fillings and from now on I will be insuring that nothing is added unless people are willing to take responsibility for it.

You have to be kidding me. This actually could happen?!!!!

For such a beautiful, classy cake she could have at least hired a REAL florist! It deserved so much better! You can tell she doesn't know anything about the technical aspects of floral design. That topper is so big it's tacky. The roses just poking out just look silly too.

Well just be proud that YOU did a excellent job.

I agree with everyone else, the before looks alot better than the after. The flowers around the bottom would have been fine, but the rest was "over kill". I wouldn't have been so nice about it. I would have looked at that "old lady" and said "who are you, and who pulled your chain?" "You didn't order and contract me for this cake, and your claws don't go into this cake!" Find me the person who contracted with me for this cake and let them tell me for themselves!
Like someone else said Your Reputation goes with the cake the before & after, people coming into the reception may have no idea there was another person involved with the flowers. Most just look and see cake and ask who done the cake, period. flowers and all!

But your original cake is/was beautiful!

I agree with the one that said to send her a copy of your before photo just so she has it for her book icon_smile.gif Afterall it is what she ordered icon_wink.gif That way if she isn't aware that YOU didn't do this..... she needs to be made aware of it icon_smile.gif

And furthermore, the way they treated you and singled you out that day was completly wrong and unprofessional!

Oh, the bride called me right when they got back from the honeymoon. She knew I didn't do the flowers and they said they loved the cakes.

I was just saying that it's been a month since it happened and I hadn't posted about it on CC haha!

What is classier, really, than a big old rose bud sticking out of the side of a cake at a 65 degree angle? Tres chic!

As everyone else said, your cake was lovely and I'm glad you took pictures before they threw the bouquet at it!

icon_surprised.gif wow. Your cake was lovely and classy-looking before the flower plopping. I think the devil in me would send a photo-card thank you note, with a lovely photo of the cake I made & not a word about the giant flowers.

Had that happen to me too. I just made sure that there were lots of people around the cake when I asked the florist about flowers being chemical/pesticide free. (my first wedding cake)
I LOVE your cake and I don't even think the flowers are 1/2 bad with the exception of the placement of a few of them.
However, the point is not who decorated a prettier cake. You should have been notified by the bride or whomever was responsable for payment of the cake that flowers were being put on by a florist upon delivery. This old bat had no right to be rude to you and what happened to your monogram? I bet that's what the bride ordered, isn't it?
The thing that's getting me is that this hateful woman probably took all the credit for decorating such a gorgeous cake. Let me at her, I'll smack her in the back of her head with a spatula. Not really, can you tell I'm having a bad day?
You did a beautiful job on this cake and be proud. I'm sure you will get lots of orders from it.
THAT WILL BE $6,000.00 PLEASE. THANK YOU, COME AGAIN.

Your cake was stunning and the flowers didn't match your design. Who in the world hired her? (Oh, oh, oh I know, must have been the evil Step-Mother.)

Ok, so I am a florist by trade, just starting cakes on the side. OMG, she couldn't have been a florist! I have only put flowers on one cake myself and won't again unless I make the cake too! I have provided the cake decorator with flowers on numerous occasions, which is what I prefer to do. I'm all about simplicity, and a stacked cake does not need any flowers that aren't edible! Maybe some simple arrangements in the flower containers made for cakes on a tiered cake!! I'm so sorry, until I joined CC I didn't give the florist/decorator relationship much thought. I would like to appoligize for the florist industry!
