Hi all,

I'm new to the CC world...what a fantastic place! I am so impressed by everyone's work and am so inspired to improve my skills. I used antonia74's royal icing recipe the other day and it wasn't shiny at all like other royal icing I have used. I'm sure this question has been asked before but is there a trick to getting it shiny? Thanks for your help!

I recently read that you can add glycerin a few drops to the icing to give it a shine. I have not tried this, so I have no idea how well it hardens or what it looks like. I use the dry fondant and add water, it is very shiney and has a good flavor.

Welcome to CC! I don't know if this works with antonia's icing but I have read about using a small lamp, like a desk lamp that you can direct the light, focused on the cookies while drying to give a shine. Do a search because I do remember a member on here giving really good instructions on this....maybe MissBaritone. Not exactly sure but it's on here. icon_smile.gif

I think I read a little corn syrup - I have tried it - not glossy but not as dull.
