I will be trying the cake mix extender with chocolate cake mix and wanted to know if you add cocoa powder to the mix or choc syrup or pudding? Just thought the extra ingred may take away from the chocolate flavor? Any suggestions would be great!! Thanks!
I've used the cake extender for chocolate cake, and I've added about 1/2 good cocoa, and substituted half of the water with (cold) coffee. Adds a nice depth to the chocolate flavor (1 cup water= 1 cup coffee).
Hope this helps!
Yep, I use the extender recipe with chocolate cake mixes...I have a buncha the coffee syrups, like Davinci and Torani's...I use those for flavoring. When I made some choco cupcakes last week I used white chocolate syrup and they were awesome!!!
Another chocolate cake and cake mix extender question:
Two chocolate cakes in a row - both DH, one Devil's Food, one that fudge flavor. Cake Mix Extender added to both. 2 T of cocoa powder added to one.
Both cakes seemed overly-moist but also very "crummy" around the edges when I torted them. And I wasn't getting enough of a chocolate flavor for my taste.
Any solutions for this? Different extender? Start from scratch for chocolate?
Thanks!
Hmmm...I dunno about the crummy part. But not chocolatey enough? I have added hersheys syrup and ommitted the flavorings before...turned out good, REALLY moist, almost a little gooey in the middle but everyone went nuts over it. I dunno...maybe try one of the other extender recipes...the advanced one maybe???
