Does anyone remember a cherry cake and cherry icing box mix from I believe DH.

My mom used to make it and I loved it. Then about 10 years ago I couldnt find it anywhere.

Well if they stopped making it but you know what I am talking about does anyone know how I could make this or does anyone have a cherry cake like that.

Now I dont mean like a cherry pie. I dont want any cherry filling.
But cherry cake and cherry icing.

Thanks everyone.

My favorite cake growing up was a Cherry Chip Cake (I think that's what it was called), and it was a boxed mix my mom used to make for me for my birthday.... Haven't seen it in years! It was a pink cake, w/ little bits of cherry (or what was supposed to be cherry!) in the mix. Is that what your looking for?

BC makes a Cherry Chip cake mix, hard to find. I think they still make it. I've found it at Big Lots, but haven't seen it in the stores. I bought some to make for my granddaughter's 5th birthday the end of this month.

One of my mother's friends makes one using White Cake Mix, chopped maraschino cherries and almond extract. It's pretty close.

I have made a lemon cherry cake, using lemon cake mix (you could use white) and dried cherries. That was pretty good, but not so much like the cherry chip mix.

I have also seen cherry chips in the grocery. I bought some one time, but they seemed very waxy and didn't melt well.

One more edit to say: I looked on Betty Crocker web site and they still list Cherry Chip as one of their cake mixes.

Thanks guys.

I dont remember it being called cherry chip but it maybe.

I relly loved it even with the cherry icing. It was just perfect.

I will check out BC website.

I dont have Hy-vee or a Price Chopper.

I just hate it when stores stop carrying things.

I know they have to make room for new things but it seems whatever I like to buy that stops selling always seemed popular because they would always be out of it or maybe one left.

Well I will try BC website.

Thanks again.

CHERRY CHIP COOKIES
1 Box CHerry Chip Cake Mix
1 Egg
1/2 c. Oil
1/4 c. Flour
1 c. MINI Choc Chips........If you want to add Reg Chips you can. (I just like MINI better) I take the batch and half it put chips in some & NOT in the other.

Preheat oven @ 300 or what ever you set your oven on for cookies.
Mix ingred. together, Add Chips LAST. Grease Cookie Sheet, drop spoonful on sheet & bake for 7-11 mins. I pull mine out just when the edges start to turn golden brown. You can be the judge on the pull out time. We like ours to stay REAL SOFT.
The cookies will be white with the red chips coming through, so for Christmas I add GREEN Food Color. You can also double recipe.

HOPE YOU ENJOY*!*!*!*!* icon_wink.gif
