thanks for your help concerning the crystal cake toppers. but if any one knows how to make them. I will try to make one instead of buying one I want to but the initials on a child's princess cake. don't want to spend a lot of money doing it just wanted to practice and wanted it to look special for her scrapebook.

have you seen those wooden initals they sell at walmart?? maybe you could hot glue some crystals to one. If that would be too big maybe taking some sort of wire and shapping it to the inital and then hot glueing the crystals to that. hope this helps

thanks susan for you suggestion I will check it out I also saw your cakes. I forgot to take pictures of my work but I did a spider-man cake and a two layer cake yellow cake with a ganche filling and lavender frosting and dark lavander flowers. I wis I had taken a picture now I will the next time. I think that I am going to voulnteer a wedding cake for next month as long as I have the freedom to do with it what I want

Hi Meandmine! I've been searching for a source for the initials for a wedding cake topper without a great deal of success.

I looked at the wooden ones at Walmart last week, and didn't buy them because they seem too thick to me (at least 1/2") and they aren't very tall, so seemed a little chunky, but for a child's cake they might be fine. I think they were only about a dollar each.

Walmart will also have a good selection of beads and stones to decorate it with, but I'd recommend buying a good clear glue to put them on with, hot glue is good for a lot of things, but I don't think it willhold the stones/sequins, etc. on these initials very well, particularly not with children handling them.

In the meantime, I am still looking for reasonably priced lucite or lightweight metal initials that we can glue swarovski crystals on! Janice
