I am trying to get legal in CA and continue to look into renting kitchen space......my question is, if I bake and prepare all the frosting and deco's at the kitchen, is it legal for me to assemble the cakes at home?

Now I realize all about health dep't rules, etc. but I know I read several posts about how they are different for different areas and I know in CA we can't run any kind of food business out of the house but wondered if everything was prepared in a licensed kitchen, must it be assembled there as well?

I am think the answer is probably yes. Frosting the cakes in an unsanitary environment is just as detrimental as cooking, etc. I just wondered where the law stood on this. thanks icon_smile.gif

You are correct in your assumption. Everything must be done and completed at the commercial kitchen. They even go as far as to say that you can't transport any supplies back and forth from your home to the kitchen. Such as KitchenAid, spatulas, tips, etc.

However, I've heard of many people that do the baking and make the icing at the commercial kitchen and then do everything else at home...
