OK...this is a rant....and long. Ever have a cake your are certain is cursed?

Had a 12,10 stack with 8, 6 tiered, choc/caramel filling w/buttercream icing due Sat at 4:30 (party at 5:30). Started this cake Friday night around 7:00 and didn't finish until 6:00 Sat morning! Got 2 hours sleep and then back up to relevel the bottom b/c my stack didn't sit right (UGH). Took this long b/c layers continued to break, etc.

Cust called me Fri am to tell me the florist had a family emergency and had to cancel so we didn't have flowers for the cake...I said, I'll take care of it - MISTAKE#1. I go to HB, pick up some greenery, etc,,,no big deal - about $10,...after being up all night, I called a local florist! MISTAKE #2 agreed to pick up at 3:30 - got them at 4:05 icon_mad.gif . Not made the way I ordered, but I didn't have a choice so I left with them. Got to the party and set up.....and SURPRISE, they didn't work. icon_mad.gif The flowers were in little cups that you could see when placed on the cake. I had asked her to make little 'corsages' b/c they work better for me...needless to say, my hubby helped me so much as we took the cups apart and had to lay the greenery between the layers. I had some parchment paper on the layer itself but I'm worried some was touching the cake (I'm sure it did on the top). I'm terrified I've poisoned someone! I didn't hear from the cust today (and had expected to) but will see her tomorrow.

Oh, by the way, did I mention my mixer is making a funny noise and smells like it's burning when I mix icing. Just knew it was going to die at 3 am! Told my DH and he said, well, you won't be needing it anyway will you so what's the problem icon_redface.gif ?

Take a deep breath and another day is just around the corner. One day you'll laugh at your bad day but eventually you'll forget and keep saying yes.

I can never say no either. I just grin and say, "Sure, I'll take care of it." When I know full good and well that I don't have any idea what I'm talking about. I feel for you. I hope your mixer is okay.

i always give the advice of saying NO, but that is only because i am usually incapable of doing it myself.

Don't they say when it rains it pours... I find the same thing. Some cakes just NEVER want to cooperate. I always say "I only guarantee it will taste good" and it always does...
