Hi everyone,

I am new to decorating...just been doing cakes for family and friends up to this point. My daughter just started preschool and they allow parents to put a small ad in the preschool newsletter for $10 a month, and I am thinking about doing it. I just don't know where to start. They did not give me a word count, it just has to be small, so I'm wondering what you pros think is most important to include or highlight? suggestions?

thanks a bunch.

nicely worded! short and to the point...that's what I need, because they say they'll put in an ad, space permitting.

thanks!

They want you to pay to put the ad in but then they will only put it in if "space permits". Hmmmm.

It is a nice idea that you can put this info in the paper. May some moms here can see if their kids have a paper they can put their ad in, too!

well, I'm pretty sure if she doesn't have the space in any given month that she would just put the ad in the next month and my $ would just go to that ad...I'm not going to pay if it's not going to get in there!! but yes, I thought it was a pretty good way to get the word out to all the parents, especially the ones in the other classes that I don't know.

i just did one in my homeowners newsletter. it was worded like: Nicole's "smashcakes". creating custom cakes for your intimate events (i had him put that to imply NO BIG weddings icon_biggrin.gif it had my phone number and listed birthdays, showers, small weddings and a picture of cake

uh, yeah, I don't do wedding cakes, big or small!! icon_eek.gif so maybe I'll have to word it somehow to imply it would be for small parties/events.

yeah, i struggled with how do i say i don't do weddings, i've only done a couple and one was for only 50 people. maybe something like specializing in unique creations for your party (i don't think of wedding when i see the word party- i think more b-day,etc.) if you're strictly b-days you could say custom cakes for your birthday. i just didn't want to have to turn down a bunch (ha ha) of people that might call for weddings.
