Not sure what I was thinking when I tried this . These are soup cans that I lined with parchment and used to bake the Butter Cake recipe from the Mermaid Bakery (with buttermilk instead of sour milk). Still hunting for the perfect mini cake! Oh well. Anyway, I think maybe I'd use less batter next time. Question is, what to do with them. Any thoughts?
Make them into Pepsi or Coke can cakes and give them away! Or you could do the green giant on them for the veggies.
You could just cut them in half for two mini cakes.
You could use them to make a train cake.
Cut them into rings and layer them in dessert dishes with berries and cream.....uh oh hungry must eat something..
Can you do this with veggie cans too? lmao I know stupid question but we just had corn and I've read so much about these soup can cakes and would love to recycle that can lol
They'd make great candles! slant the top off, insert fondant or royal wick. Add some water to royal frosting and let it run down the cake like wax.
These are also awesome sizes for nut breads at Christmas for teachers, etc.
just cut them in half...TWO mini cakes!
another solution to mini cakes is...
a sheet cake, torted to one inch layers, use a deep round biscuit cutter to cut mulitple mini cakes, fill and ice.
there is also a really great two tiered mini cake pan, 2" on top of 3"

oh, I luv this idea! YOu can use chocolate ganache, too, for the drip look!
I remember a discussion about baking in cans last fall... trying to remember but I think the main objective to achieve was a display of varying heights of christmas candles.

HTH
How 'bout eating 'em? They are just the right size for a couple to have dessert after dinner. Just my opinion.
I have to put this thread in my favorites or keep it somehow because next year on Dr. Suess' birthday, I am going to make these for my son's class....They are the perfect hat, with a piece of fondant for the brim.
i made my wedding anniversary cakes for my mom and dad from tins the same as these!
they were both on diets so perfect not to ruin their diets without them thinking they had been forgotten!
its in my pics anyway, theyve got little bears on the top.....
Cut them into rings and layer them in dessert dishes with berries and cream.....
My stomach growled at me when I read this, now I want to go make soupcan cakes so I can do this =)
I was thinking the same thing as many here.. cut it in 1/4ths and stack two together to make 2 mini cakes with filling.. I also like the idea of whipped cream and berries! Mmmmmmmm!!!! Did you use any sort of a heating core for this or did it just bake up nice as is? I may have to try this myself now!
