i followed this recipe http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-2185-Dark-Chocolate-Cake.html which is AWESOME, btw, but for some reason the cake rose over the sides of the pans and burned in the bottom of my oven. the pans were filled 3/4 the way full. i had to make this cake twice, the second time altering it a little, but it still did it.

i am new to these forums and this is my first post. i LOVE this site! its freakin awesome icon_smile.gif

I make the Killer Chocolate Cake, which is a very similar recipe. I've learned the hard way that you can only fill the pans 1/2 full. Filling your pan up to 3/4 was why they boiled over. Next time try filling only 1/2 and see if it turns out better for you!! icon_smile.gif

Alternatively, you could try collaring your pan and hopefully it'll be alright. I hope it works out fine for you.

Welcome to CC!

Here's another vote for collaring your pans. You get really nice, high tiers that way!
