Hi everyone
I am going to be making cupcakes and selling them individually at a place. I was thinking $1.00 a cupcake. Is that reasonable or too much or too little. Let me know what you think.
Thanks Ya'll

What kind of decoration will you be doing, buttercream swirls & sprinkles or something else? I sell my buttercream cupcakes for $1.50 each, and plain ones $1.00 each. I suppose it depends on your area and if you're prepared to give bulk order discounts. Good luck!

I would scope out the competition in the surrounding area to see what bakery cupcakes grocery and specialty shops are selling them for and consider what yours look like in comparison and the type of clientele that frequents the place that will have your cupcakes....

$1 - $1.50 seems like a price that would be accepted by most any customer. If you have special fillings and fancy detailwork, you should increase the price to reflect the artistry.

Well what I am doing the cupcakes for is a race track. My husband and I just went into partnership our local dirt track racetrack. The other guy that had it split. Well to make a long story short, we are trying to turn somethings around and offer some different things. We have our championship race next saturday.

So I thought I would make cupcakes. I have mini checkered flags and sprinkles made out of race cars. I wonder how many I should make.

I have another question? Next season I am going to do cookies also. They will be shaped out of race cars, then I am going to put the numbers of the drivers on the cookies. How much should I sell them for.

Thanks so much
Tonya

I would think in this setting....I'd do something simple, quick and cute....and try to sell in large quantities. Check to see what prices they were selling food items for before and how much candy sells for at the concession. Seems like people would be willing to pay the same amount they pay for a candy bar or if that is less than $1 .....I'd start them at a dollar.

A dollar for the cupcakes sounds reasonable.

Now the cookies - they require a lot more work - I'd go at least $2 each, maybe $2.50

Try some car shaped clear lollipops too for the kids.

Oh! And "race" mix... bag up mixed popcorn, sunflower seeds, pretzels, etc... put it in 4oz bags and sell it. I bet it does really well.

I agree. The cookies should be priced higher as suggested... I was thinking cupcake with the $1.

Best of luck to you!
