icon_eek.gif Wow! There is so much information on this thread that I am just now learning! I still have not read through each post on this thread but I will. I am definitely going to watch this thread.

I have learned so much on cookie bouquets and the many ways to decorate cookies. I hope that my daughter (she's only 10 months old right now) will have lots of wonderful memories of the two of us in the kitchen.

That's a neat trick with the tips in the microwave. I'll have to try that!

Keep 'em coming

I have learned so much! I feel so excited about having such a great hobby that i can share with so many others. But, because I am new, I have so many questions about member's favorite tips. Here are just a few: 1. What do you use chocolate tranfers for? ( I saw the picture with the silicon cups)
2. How do you take out the flower nail from the cake?
3. Waht is IMBC?
I am just afraid to miss something! Thanks everyone!!!!!

Flower nail - I did this for the first time last week and it definitely did help. Made the top look kinda wierd though, it formed a crust but was pretty flat and cooked through evenly. It just pulled straight out when I turned the cake over to cool.
IMBC = Italian Meringue (sp??) ButterCream- never used it but getting pretty good at interpreting the terminology here! See DH, the hours and hours spent reading posts have been helpful!!

No problem. Just thought I would mention that I am doing a big square wedding cake this week, 11 inches across, and baked a trial cake yesterday using the flower nail trick. The result - an almost perfectly flat cake, cooked perfectly right through to the middle. I can see myself using this trick every time I bake now so I can definitely recommend it!

oh and I should also mention that again there was a very thin crust on the cake. It was actually quite nice though! And could easily be trimmed off if you didn't want it there. So I guess this is something that happens as a result of using the nail.

I have learned so much! I just love this site...addicted already. I learned to freeze my cakes ahead of time to save time, the flower nail in baking a cake, the violet in off-white frosting to make it more of a true white, how to do a stacked cake (working on that one!) and how to make cake balls!
Can't wait to learn more "tricks!"

[quote="beemarie"]the violet in off-white frosting to make it more of a true whitequote] I have tested this too recently and yes it does work! I have also found that you have to watch how much you add though in case you don't actually want violet icing icon_redface.gif

Gosh I'm such a CC addict. I have learnt so so much and my family thank you all. I've felt sad for people when friends do the dirty on them, I have ROFL at accidents I thought I only do and been absolutly amazed from simple things like cheesecakes to elegant cakes.
I have learnt heaps but I made for the first time (as I only read it not too long ago on a CC forum) ice cream cone cupcakes.(I'm having a lot of firsts after getting off CC. I made rice Krispies treats in the middle of reading this thread.
Ahhhh so many great things not enough time.

Where can I find the recipe for the whipped chocolate caramel ganache? I've looked a through the recipes and must've missed it! It sounds great!

Oh boy, such a haaarrdd question--I've learned so much from this board, but my current favorite is the flower nail in large cakes, just used that last weekend for 16" round & 14 " square cakes and it worked like a dream !! Close behind is the Viva method (and I going to try the high density roller method soon).
Heck, this whole board is my favorite thing!!
