Does anyone have any suggestions for baking an 8" round or square sugar cookie? I am wanting to make a bigger sized cookie kinda like the ones you can get at the birthday cookie places that are in the malls.

How long do I bake it? What Temperature? Will the cookie bake evenly?

I recently bought a large cookie pan - you press in a whole tube of cookie dough and it bakes nice and large. I haven't used it yet. I doubt if you just dropped some dough on a cookie sheet it would bake evenly.

If you don't want to purchase a pan, you could probably roll your dough out nice and large like you would to cover a cake with fondant and flip it (same way with fondant, fold over a rolling pin or what not) right into a round pizza pan. It doesn't have to reach the edges as it will spread out. We bake large cookies (they're 12" though) at work, the dough is square shaped as if sheeted out right into the round plastic pans.

Hope that helps!

Okay when I worked in a bakery where we did bake the large cookies we set the temp at 325 and bake 20 min or until the edges were nice and brown. Even after you take out the cookie it will keep baking in the pan till cool. So don't over cook the cookie icon_surprised.gif

I haven't tried it with sugar cookie dough yet, but I have made a big chocolate chip cookie as well as a brownie. I just used my reg. size pizza pan and covered it with foil to cover the holes. I spread the dough/better almost to the edges and tried to get it as even as possible. They both came out great. The cookie seemed to be very evenly baked and the brownie was not as done in the middle, but it was nice and gooey! I have a picture of them in my photos. I always bake at 325 and keep an eye on it. That might help to make sure it is cooked evenly. HTH

I bake large cookies alot. I use my 2 inch round pans or my shaped pans. I put a parchment liner in the bottomon the rounds, and just spray the shaped pans, and use a smaller round pan that the bottom has been sprayed or cut another parchment circle on top of the cookie, and use the pan to flatten the dough. I use my cookie scoop to put in the dough and flour my hands enough to spread the dough out. I bake on 350, but don't make the dough real thick in the pan.

I like to use my cheesecake pans to make the large cookies. I parchment line the bottom & press cookie dough into pan. Bake til done & remove sides of pan after about 10 minutes of cooling.

Cool completely.

Waalah, a perfectly round cookie that you can slide off onto a cardboard round.

Has any one made a cookie cake? I tried it, just took 3 inch round cookies stacked and iced them as you would a cake. Turned out real neat! My kids got a kick out of them too!~
