What To Do With Leftover Cake Batter
Decorating By gourmetcakes Updated 14 Sep 2006 , 1:46am by CarolAnn
I just posted something on a forum that made me think of a tip I could share.
When I first started making cakes, I used to throw away leftover cake batter. Now, even if I just have a little batter left, I make cupcakes and throw them in a ziplock bag, then throw them in the freezer.
For anyone in the house who has a sweet tooth, all they have to do is pull one out, nuke for 15 seconds.......warm, fresh out the oven taste!!!!! Or, you could let them cool and put icing on.
Just thought I would share! Great for a kids treat!
I have several mini shape pans so I just fill as many as I have batter for and then freeze then after baking. My granddaughters like to frost them when they come or I frost them ahead of time and then we use them for our tea parties.
I love to use them for my mini pans! They are perfect for when my little nephew comes over - not too much cake! And, my DH likes to take them to work from time to time for a mid-morning snack. He never knows what flavor he is going to get!

I used to throw away leftover batter too, until one day I thought "what the heck? I can make a 6" or some cupcakes with this stuff!!" So that's what I do now. Often times I will throw in a Jiffy white cake mix to extend the batter enough so that I can have a wee bit more left over.
I usually end up with enough batter left over to bake either a 6" round or a short 8" round. I cool, wrap and freeze them for quick "throw-together" cakes when the mood strikes me! I had some left over last night but it wasn't really enough even for a 6" so I baked about 15 mini eggs in my mini egg pan and am going to freeze those!

I bake 4" or 6" with them, to use for practice cakes. Otherwise, I get a large tablespoon...
Zamode, THAT'S exactly why I started throwing out all my left over bc!! It's too good from the spoon. I have a little better control now. la la la la la la la
