Hi All! I am new to cakecentral but really enjoy learning all your advice and information. I have a surprise party for a friend next Saturday and am going to attempt the Whimsical Tilted Cake (Mad Hatter) and have the instructions from this site. But my problem is this:
1. How many cakes do I need for each layer? Will I need two 10 in. cakes for bottom, 3-4 for the second layer, and the 4-5 for the top layer? The diagram looks like there is a lot of layers within the layers.
2. How do I transfer the cake to make the layers?
3. How do I 'dig' into the cake with a spoon or knife?
4. What type of icing do you prefer? I am not fond of the taste of fondant but am looking for an alternative.
Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!
