After reading a recent post regarding payments from customers, I have finally decided 100% for sure that I need to start accepting credit cards. I do not want to use PayPal, but want a terminal.

If you guys have this, who do you use? I know that banks can be picky and your credit, etc., counts in this case. After a nasty divorce several years ago, my credit is not the greatest, so I'm worried. I do have a business checking account and am going to check with my bank, but from what I hear they have the highest rates and are the hardest to get a terminal from.

Thanks in advance!!!

I am in NC also and have a wholesale clothing businss. I just started taking credit cards not long ago. I got on the web and found Merchant Services in California. The guys name is Keith...he was very helpful. We got a good rate, did not have to sign a contract therefore we could cancel his program without a penalty. I got a Nextel phone, and he set the service up using Aircharge. He got me a small printer to used with the phone. The data service was only $16 a month, plus a small fee to process your statement on line. I have his number if you would like. Just PM me and I will give you the phone number. Hope this helps...

www.elementpaymentservices.com

I have used them for nearly 2 years and I really like them. I have a wireless terminal that I lease for $24.99 per month and then of course are the fees from the credit card companies ect. The processing company you choose will check your credit along with visa, m/c, discover, and amex.

Before I got the machine I used www.propay.com. You don't have to have a terminal. You just log onto their website and process each transaction yourself. I really really liked it because the fees are not nearly as much as using a machine but without internet access at my shop it just wasn't working. They do not check your credit.

Paypal is great because you can invoice your customer online and they can pay with just a few clicks. I use this for all of my corporate accounts.

Hope this info helps.
