I am so disappointed...I got a call for a cake order for a 21st birthday. I'm thinking-yeah, we can have some fun on this cake...............not exactly. The mom says that the napkins she bought have balloons with musical notes on it and she would like the cake to have something like that too. It is for a 10" round cake. I personally think that balloons for a 21 year old is a little weird, but I just make the cake!!! Anyone have some cool ideas of what I could do? Thanks!

Yea balloons for a 21st is a little weird. I would do something with musical notes. Or you could do balloons out of fondant of something that are shooting up out of the cake. I am not for sure where I am going with this, but its the only idea that comes to mind. icon_confused.gif
Sorry I may have not been better help than this, hopefully someone else can be a little more creative.

You should feel free to ask what the musical note inspiration is for ... like does the guy PLAY a certain instrument? Or does he listen to a certain band? That might lead her and you together to think of new ideas. Or else she'll just say, "No, I want the cake to match the napkins."
(for me, every 21st birthday cake I've done had to do with drinking!)

I recently did a musical note cake for my niece's 21st. My own design, feel free to take ideas.
I Like to use water bomb balloons for decorations on gifts, so you could use something like that in a little cluster and some curling ribbon. They look really good on gifts anyway.
If you look at my cake, you could put the balloons and some ribbon on the cake and have springy notes coming up from there.
Good luck.
