Everything was going well with the 2 tier grad cake I'm making (Wiltons Honor Roll Scroll from the Celebrate with Fondant book) I was all done everything just had to put the topper on - the topper is a fondant grad cap and scroll which I made three days ago to make sure it would be dry. Problem is, we've been having rain all week and when I lifted it to put in on the cake it fell apart!! Agh! Now I'll have to make another, but it won't be dry in time, so I'm going to have to lay it flat on top - it was supposed to be fastened to a lollipop stick and pushed into the top. Hopefully the lady isn't too set on having it exactly like the picture.

Has anyone seen this cake before? I wanted to ask if my pricing was out of line. I figured the cost of ingredients alone is $100+ and 13 hrs work. Do you think $170 (CDN) is too much?

Thanks all! Now to go start the other two grad cakes I have to do...

YOu could try to put it in the oven with just the light on. That would help to speed up the drying process. As far as the prcing that doesnt seem too bad. When doing a tiered cake, I price them the same as a wedding cake because they are usually just as much work if not more. They also seem to use a bit more supplies sometimes becuase of different food colors and materials used for detials.
