This is my first time using MMF. Just a quick question that might be quite dumb. Once I made my flowers and decorations, and I'm leaving them out to set... Do I leave them out uncovered at room temperature? If they're left out like that, will they go stale and taste yucky? How long does it usually take to set? Thanks in advance! Appreciate the help.

most times i make anything out of mmf i just leave them on some baking paper to dry on the counter top, they will harden but most people dont eat them anyway.

it takes a little while for them to set, but if you add some gum trag or gum tex to the mmf it will make them harden quicker.

to 1lb of mmf or 500gms you add 2 teaspoons of the gum.

hope this healps

You can find Gum Tex at Michaels Craft Store. They now also sell a ready to use, already mixed Gum Paste by Wilton. I have used it and it's pretty good! I am NOT very experienced at Gum paste yet, and only have tried a few flowers, but the ready to use gum paste worked out pretty well! But, if you want to use gum tex, you can purchase it at Michaels.

I get mine at Michael's, it works great. Although I've never used it with MMF, I've only used it with Wilton fondant. I'm sure it will work great with that too.

once your cake is covered w/MMF, what do you do w/it? Do you have to put it in the frig, counter, covered or uncovered?

it can sit out for 2-3 days....they say not to refrigerate it, but I have in the past with no problems.
