My Daughter HATES her wedding cake!!

icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif I spent hours doing this cake (did a dummy 1. for practice and 2. her reception is open house style, so I stupidly thought she would like sheet cakes in the kitchen so that her guests could see her wedding cake and 3. I could enter it in the local fair this week, killing two birds with one stone!) but she just stopped in and saw it and did nothing but complain - the teal is too green and she wants a REAL cake at her reception, blah, blah, blah!!! I am near tears as I write this because I can't believe my own daughter has turned into my first bridezilla!! icon_mad.gif I told her, "Fine, I'll make another one!!" (As well as do 4 large sheet cakes). She left and I feel like the dirt she has just trod on!!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

When you said what she told you I expected to see an amateur looking cake. But than my jaw dropped when I saw the beautiful cake you made her. What a beautiful perfectly detailed cake. I'm sure she's just stressed but jeez, send her to her room!! j/ icon_surprised.gif

re color -- looks good to me

my response to her -- ok miss smarty pants -- here's the fondant and the colors -- you color it!

tho' have to agree w/ her -- real cake so she can do the whole cuttin' the cake bit is nice.

you can still put this one in the fair -- it is a great design concept.

Thanks for the support! Doug, I had planned on hiding a little 6" behind the dummy so that that they can cut it and feed each other for the pics! Now, it'a whole new cake that I will use BC on with fondant accents as most people won't eat fondant anyway, not even my Satin Ice!!! icon_cool.gif

Can't send her to her room! She moved out into an apartment this last weekend! Thank goodness!! thumbs_up.gif

She wants everthing perfect and the cake will be, its beautiful the way it is, she is probably stressing right now, Do you have a receipe for your Satin Ice,? and would you share it??

I don't make Satin Ice - I buy it from Country Kitchens!
It taste great but is a bit expensive so I'm just going to use for accents on my second attempt at pleasing her!

THis is my first post.. lol but I wanted to say that that cake is awesome and I hope I can eventually make a cake that professional looking. wow... icon_biggrin.gif This might be dumb but you said most ppl dont eat fondant? so when ppl make a wedding cake out of ALL fondent nobody hardly eats it? icon_eek.gif I know its kinda bland but still...or am I just confused?

Your cake is absolutely wonderful! I do feel your pain, though. When I did my first daughter's wedding cake, I made up a dummy for her, after having agonized for weeks over the design, shape, etc. She came to see it and told me that she'd changed her mind, didn't want square tiers, didn't want it to look like her dress, etc. This was after I'd already bought a bunch of square cake pans! What I made (see Cheryl's cake in my pictures) turned out fine, but it took a lot more of my time than originally planned. Luckily, my second daughter was much more laid back, just said she didn't care what it looked like, only wanted fresh fruit decorations.

I'm sure that whatever you end up doing will turn out magnificent icon_biggrin.gif

Honey let me tell you, my very very first cake was my daughter's wedding cake and thank God she liked it but otherwise I really think I would have told her I am not doing this, go to a bakery and pay the money.
I know you took so much pride in doing it, but she seems to be acting like a BRAT (I'm sorry, I'm so upset for you) let her pay for a cake and then she will see what kind of cake she gets. I really feel for you...........but don't let this get to you. Your cake is beautiful.

OK, I'm tired of kids today. literally.(mine in particular, today and just about every other day) We do so much for our kids and get what in return? A thanks mom? Anything? No! Tell her to go buy one beacause your going to win first place with this cake. It's gorgeous!!!!! BTW, I know you wouldn't tell her to buy one and actually mean it, but I'm afraid that she may be used to seeing such beautiful work from you, she may have turned into a cake snob. (not a bad thing to be). Good luck with the wedding and have a great time at the show.
