Hi there, newbie here!
I just started cake decorating for fun, but now I'm in the Wilton course 3, so I guess I got sucked in.
I'm going to make a French silk pie for a church get together soon, and I wanted to show off my rose making skills. Could I use chocolate buttercream for the roses, or would you use some other type of icing?
TIA!
Hi and welcome!
As long as the consistency is right you should be fine for roses! Remember to save a slice for me!!! French silk is my favorite!
Sure - you can use chocolate BC for roses. I think that would be delicious on a french silk pie.
That will work, you could also try fondant or tootsie rolls to make them too. If you want to try that just do a search for mmf roses or tootsie roll roses and I'm sure you will find directions
Good luck
Thank you for your quick replies!
Now, I can refrigerate buttercream right? Because, of course, the pie has to be kept refrigerated.
Welcome, welcome, welcome to our addiction.
Yep, you can refrigerate or freeze buttercream icing. Also, if you want to, you can make any buttercream flowers ahead of time and freeze.
Your pie sounds delicious and will be pretty with the chocolate roses...post pictures
